How do you remove the temperature control lever from this product?

There is no visible sign of a cap or cover to remove or a set screw holding the temperature control lever in place thus preventing me from removing the single lever handle to check the valve for particles that may be restricting water flow to the shower head. Neither the diagrams shown on the website nor the instructions indicate how to remove this lever.

Hi Edward, I apologize about the issue you are having removing the tempature dial on your Delta shower. Depending on when your faucet was manufactured, the cover will be removed in one of two ways. You will be able to either "pop" it off of the temperature control knob by prying it off with a small screwdriver, or you will be able to slide it downward, in the opposite direction of the "pointed" end of the cover.
