Use of the deep versus normal (shallow) escutcheon?
I am remodeling my bathroom but keeping my 600-series (1600-series?) shower-only faucet. It has the acrylic knob with diamond stem with up-down and twist dual-function. I have all of the parts necessary to completely rebuild it, but then stumbled upon this deep escutcheon. I think this deeper escutcheon might look nicer, but how/when is it used? Do I set the valve deeper into the wall, remove the black piece on the front of the rough-in valve, both, or something else? If you have any archived installation instructions for my rough-in valve and/or how to apply this escutcheon, that would be wonderful.
Hi DWHmore, Thank you for your question. The RP6019 deep escutcheon is used in cases where the rough in valve was installed too deep for the regular escutcheon to attach to the rough. There may not be clearance to install the RP6019 if the valve was installed correctly to begiin with. The RP6019 will add 1" of depth over the regular RP5883 escutcheon.
