Would you please let me know what I did incorrectly when I installed the lift rod?

Dear Madam or Sir: I hope you are doing well today. I installed faucet model 25996LF-BN with faucet code 413763-A this week and noticed the lift rod RP42092 is made with an "offset" in its length. When I pull the lift rod it will deviate to one side and looks odd. Would you please let me know what I did incorrectly when I installed the lift rod? The previously installed Delta faucet did not have an "offset" and, as a result, it did not deviate to one side when pulled. Thank you, for your time and consideration of my request.

Hi Linda, Thank you for your question! The lift rod was most likely turned slightly when you attached the strap. Please try loosening the screw on the strap, then pull up on the rod to make sure it is straight, and re-tighten the strap to the rod. Best regards, Jon
