What material is this made of? Are the internal pieces plastic or metal?

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet model 144731-BL.
This uses metal and plastic parts. The valve rough is brass. The internal cartridge is mostly plastic with a metal stem. It stops water with rubber seats against a stainless steel plate.

I have a RP19804 cartridge and compatible rough in. I want to replace my handle but can’t/don’t want to install a new rough in. Can I attach the handle to my existing RP19804 cartridge or is it a requirement that I have to upgrade the rough in?

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet 144731-BL.
This can be used with an RP19804 cartridge and rough in instead of using the new included cartridge and rough in. The top of RP19804 is the same as the new RP46074 cartridge, but the legs are different.
