Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy water flow I replaced 2 Grohe faucets when I updated my bath sinks with this one. The first thing I noticed was the aerators had a terrible flow - not smooth, but wiggled around. But the biggest thing was the noise level when water is flowing. I comes from the body of the faucet. After 2 years, it still annoys me. I fixed the aerator flow issue by removing the foam filters and putting in small button of scotchbrite gray plastic. Faucet noise still exists but water flows smooth, single column without splashing. Unfortunately, the bottom escutcheon plate broke on one sink after a year and I can't find the part.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fix to the spraying and flow rate issues Following up on my review of a few days ago, which talked about the issue with poor flow rate and the stream being turbulent and spraying everywhere. On the advice of an earlier reply by Delta, I ordered the 1.8GPM RP91784 aerator from a plumbing supply house, and it fixed both problems. The flow rate is much closer to the old faucet, and more importantly, the water is in a solid laminar flow stream. Unfortunately had to spend another $20 to make the faucet useable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed On the plus side, it looks great. But functionally, not good. I wish I had read these reviews before buying this faucet. The reviews about the extremely poor design decision to require a special tool to remove the aerator are spot on. That will easily get lost. I'll probably put it in a bag and duct tape it to the underside of the vanity so I don't lose it. But even more problematic is the very slow flow rate AND the water spraying everywhere through the brand new - and clean - aerator. I followed the instructions and let the water run without the aerator on, then installed it. It's not a solid stream like the 25 yr old faucet it replaced - there are multiple independent "streams". If it sprays like that when clean, what will it be like when it's gunked up with calcium deposits?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not great Installing the faucet was not too bad, the hoses are a lot long and the “washer “ to hold the faucet in place is odd but nothing you can’t figure out, my question is did the person that designed the aerator ever do any real work in the real world? The idea to place the aerator flush with the bottom of the faucet and the need for a special key to take it out and put in new one is wrong headed. I have worked maintenance for many years and this is the worst designed key I have ever worked with. I just installed a new faucet and took out the aerator to flush the lines and then replaced it, it was not enjoyable. I can’t imagine what it will be like once it has been in use and full of gunk..no wait yes I can, impossible.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Faucet but poor flow rate I replaced an older Moen faucet with this model Delta faucet. This faucet has only 40% of the flow rate of an older Moen faucet that it replaced. The faucet is located in a second floor bathroom and it takes forever to get some hot water up to the sink. The older faucet would fill the sink in 50 seconds. This one requires 2 minutes. Installation of the faucet was easy and the rest of the faucet features are perfect. But, since its primary purpose is to flow water, I would like to see this improved. The replacement aerator in the parts list has a stated flow rate of 1.2 gal/min. I would like one with between 2.4 and 3.0 gal/minute flow rate but have been unable to locate one. Please contact me if you can provide one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Leaves something to be desired Delta Portwood Faucet This is a reasonably priced faucet with several positives, but for me what makes or breaks the ownership experience is the ease of installation and, later, the ease of repairing the faucet when a leak develops. The reason I bought this faucet was because the last one (another brand) became impossible to repair. The positives are the mid-range price, that it comes complete with everything you need, including a good quality drain plug assembly, an allen wrench to remove the handle, and a special tool to remove the aerator (more on this later). It even includes integrated, ½-inch braided hoses to connect to the under-sink valves. These hoses are unusually long. Now, about issues that could be improved by Delta. The one issue that made me call Delta’s help line was that the water coming out of the spout aerator was turbulent and erratic, with streams of water shooting off in different directions (see picture). The instructions do say to take out the aerator and run water through the faucet until all the manufacturing debris is flushed out. I did that, but it didn’t help smooth out the water flow. I used a compressed air canister to blow out any debris that may be in the aerator and that didn’t help. Looking at it closely, it seems that besides the turbulent stream out of the aerator water shoots out of the threaded area where the aerator screws into the spout. By the way, without the aerator in place the flow sprays water around about 18”, which tells me that the interior passage of the faucet is not smooth or deburred. After the fact I checked online reviews and saw multiple complaints about the aerator water flow. Given this issue and the fact that a lot of “manufacturing debris” came out of the faucet tells me that this faucet was never tested before packaging it. Delta, please don’t tell me that’s too much effort! There are faucets under $30, so what am I getting that’s better for a $110 faucet – just a better finish? This aerator issue also highlighted the need for the special tool to remove the aerator. Without this tool you’re not removing the aerator – not without a hacksaw. This is the kind of thing that’s going to be lost in most households. Why design it this way? I would have loved to be design meeting where they decided this nonsense was a good idea. Anyway, when I called Delta they said they will send me another aerator in the mail. Thank you, but we’ll see. Another issue is the water flow volume and rate: this faucet allows through about half the flow as my previous, 20-year-old faucet. Perhaps this is to be compliant with some water conservation law, but it’s a disappointment. Finally, there is the angled stopper lift rod. This is nicely styled and hidden in the back of the faucet where it can’t be easily seen. But, in my case there is less than ¾-inch space between the rod handle and the sink back wall, making it difficult to grab the rod to pull up. On this, I can appreciate the design constraints and fortunately that’s not something I use often About the installation experience: Let’s first stipulate that plumbing work is horrible. You’re working in a cramped space, under the sink, where neither you nor your tools can move much. So, the easier the installation process, the better the perception of the faucet. The installation experience for this faucet was average, but here are some suggestions for improvements: Make the fittings out of plastic and/or rubber parts so that can be finger tightened. Make the braided hoses shorter (for the typical American bathroom sink) so that there isn’t so much excess hose to loop or tuck away. Better yet, provide plastic/rubber hoses so they won’t get twisted while wrenching the compression nuts. The method for fastening the faucet assembly to the sink surface is somewhat hit-or-miss. It includes an oddly shaped metal bracket which is tightened against the sink underside with a nut. The problem is that it is not clear how to place or orient this bracket so that the pressure against the sink surface is even and distributed. I was afraid to tighten the nut too much and put too much localized pressure on one spot of the sink and crack it. Would I buy this faucet again? Probably not, mainly because of the aerator issue. But, no matter what you buy it’s a gamble. You never know what you have until you fully install it and turn on the water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value and look Love the look and the value for the cost of this faucet. My only complaint is that the aerator doesn't work very well. I bought 3 of these to replace Moen faucets in my bathrooms and the water comes out in more of a solid stream which causes water to splash everywhere. I wish the aerator broke up the water stream more and made the water feel "softer". If they make a different aerator that I can replace the stock ones with then it would be five stars.
