Will this work with a diverter valve that has more functions? I already have a delta valve

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet model 342702-CZ-R valve rough and trim.
The trim can be used with an already installed R22000 integrated diverter valve rough. The diverter functions are determined by the included diverter cartridge.
If you have a Delta shower with an integrated 3-function diverter for two shower features, you can use the included 2-function cartridge or continue to use the 3-function cartridge with a shared setting.
If you have a 6-function integrated diverter for three shower features, you may need to plug the right side diverter outlet to use the included 2-setting diverter cartridge for two shower features. This trim can also be used with a 6-function diverter cartridge to add a third shower feature.

Is there plastic or metal for the internal workings?
