Grab Bars for the Bathroom
Grab Bars for getting out of the shower have become such an important convenience as we age. This is a great size for the hand and installed correctly, are a comfort for people with neuropathy in their feet when stepping out of the shower.

Nice but chrome is two-toned
Design and function are really nice, but the polished chrome is two colors. The bar and the wall plate are a pinker color than the elbow connector. Delta told me that they've discontinued the color because of that. If it's going to bother you, don't get it.

The bar does its job well. Do remember that the wall itself needs extra bracing to do the job properly with grab bars. I used two for towel racks and one vertically to assist shower exits. I do wish their diameter was slightly smaller.

Very sturdy grab bar!
This grab bar was installed for an elderly couple. I had the wall opened and put in a 2x6 in between the two studs and when the shower walls were put up the grab bar brackets were very solid with the 6 #12 screws I put it up with. Very nice looking and very sturdy product.

grab bar for tub
purchased 2 bars an 18 inch and a 24 inch for the side and back of the tub. makes it very helpful for getting in and out of the tub especially when you hit our age. its sturdiness and strength plus overall appearance are just added features of the products.

Handrail doubles as a Towel Bar

Putting the finishing touches on my new mstr bath. I originally went to several stores to look at towel bars and was very disappointed with what was available. After installing two grab bars in my shower and both seeing and 'feeling' the quality of the grab bars over the towel bars I decided to use 18" and 24" grab bars for towel bars instead of the actual towel bars themselves.
Grab bars have a lot more physical bulk to them and actually look better than the towel bars. I figured towel bars get used several times a day and the best way to eliminate any potential for towel bars to become lose from the wall from constant use I decided to use grab bars for towel bars. Look much better and feel much more substantial than much thinner towel bars.

Q&A
Are 41618 and 41624 the same bars as the Traditional Slide Bar/Grab Bar of the 51900 Hand-Held Shower? If they're the same why doesn't Delta recommend them for the shower in both Chrome and SS finishes?
Thank you for your question, nsrr! The bar included with model 51900 is the same as model 41624. Model 41618 is the 18" version of this bar. Both are offered in Chrome, Stainless Steel, Champagne Bronze, Polished Nickel and Venetian Bronze.

How do you get the end caps off to expose the screw holes in order to mount? The instructions do not explain it and it is difficult to figure out.

Is it your expectation that the grab bar with stainless finish would resit rust and hold up better over the long term that the chrome finish?
I am trying to decide whether to go with chrome or stainless finish. The other fixtures in the bathroom are chrome. The only reason I would go with stainless is if it held up better over the long term. Do you have any advice on this?
Both grab bars pass testing and are rated the same.

Is the grab bar with "stainless" finish actually stainless steel or does it just have a color that looks like stainless steel?

Thank you for your question. The Delta 18" Traditional Grab bar 41618-SS can be installed in a shower stall, however we do not recommend it. If installed in the shower stall, you would want to dry it off after every shower use, to protect the finish.

does the delta champagne bronze the same finish as the brizo brilliance brushed bronze?
Hi Heather, Thank you for your question. The Delta CZ champagne bronze finish is not the same as the Brizo BZ brushed bronze. The brushed bronze has a darker golden look than the champagne bronze.

Traditional Decorative 36” Decorative Grab Bar in Venetian Bronze - is it 1 piece construction or can the tube be removed from the end so it can be cut to a shorter length (eg, 30”)?

Does the 18" grab bar have mounting holes to accommodate mounting to 16" on center studs?
