Beautiful bar...but HORRIBLE to install!
We experienced 2 days trying to install this one 24"shower grab bar. DO NOT BUY this!! This wasn't easy at all, packaging does NOT COME WITH A TEMPLATE & everything MUST line up within 1/32" behind the new shower tiles we had just installed. Frustrating!!

Template Needed
I installed two of these 24” grab bars after a contractor quoted $1300 to install them. I first installed one at the toilet with one end on a stud and used the wall anchor for the other end. The anchor was difficult to insert into the 3 1/2” wall cavity and the plastic ring did not stick to the back of the mounting plate , so it was difficult to get that tightened up. Luckily, my layout was right on for the bar to fit over the plates and the set screw to secure them. I used a ratcheting driver with hex bit after stripping one set screw.
I was more weary about installing the bar on the marble tile at the shower. I located the studs on the opposite side of the wall and transferred the measurement to the shower side. Studs were 16” o.c., so plan was to catch two studs with grab bar on approximately a 45 degree angle. Here is where a template was really needed. I ended up making a template on tape adhered to the wall, traced the ends of the grab bar centered on the stud lines, and marked the holes from the mounting bracket before drilling. The top right and bottom left holes were angled to the stud, but caught. I think a set of holes that would be vertical for this arrangement would be useful. Or more holes in the grey anchor plate.
In the end, it turned out sturdy and beautiful, and I’m glad I didn’t screw it up.

Delta 41724 Transitional grab bar is difficult to install.
I used professional installers who had installed grab bars before. Each end of the bar has a plate that attaches to the wall separately, and the grab bar attaches to those plates. Each plate has a fixed collar with 2 holes that must EXACTLY align with 2 holes in grab bar handle. All 4 holes in the plate and the handle must align in a straight line for successful install. There is zero play in the plate/collar, so it is important to make marks on the plate and grab bar handle where they must align. Mark them after removing the hardware from the box but before separating plate from the grab bar handle. It is important to check the plate/collar position BEFORE drilling/attaching plate/collar to wall. No template was provided. Instructions were generic, not specific to this item. Installation sheet didn't show names of grab bar pieces, just tools and fasteners. Hardware seems sturdy and looks good (chrome). I had 3 of these grab bars installed. Due to difficulty of installation, would not recommend to others.

Very sturdy and stylish!
My husband has a horizontal grab bar mounted in his shower, but I didn't have one for my bathtub until a recent remodel. This one is mounted vertically at the end of the tub should it ever be needed. Delta has earned my loyalty as a customer because of their quality and warranty.

Delta 24” Concealed Mount Grab Bar
This is a very attractive (and useful) accesory for your shower ot tub. Add a safety feature with both strength and good looks. Regardless of age or physical dexterity, this grab bar protects against slips or falls. Highly recommended.

Style and finish are spot on
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the style and finish of these grab bars. Very classic and sleek. I use them often in my custom tile showers. My only issue with them, is that the mounting (especially through tile) is not the easiest to install. Other grab bars allow the trim ring to be removed or slid down the bar for easy installation. This one is tougher, due to not allowing the bar to remain assembled and mount at the same time.

Does Delta sell a handheld shower mount in stainless to put on the 24" ADA grab bar
We would like to use the Transitional decorative ADA grab bar 24" in the shower as a slide bar for a handheld shower. Does Delta have a coordinating stainless mount that would fit this bar?

Can you use this inside the shower stall without damage to the finish?
Thank you for your question, Charlie! The 41724-RB ADA compliant grab bar is intended for use inside the shower stall. A Delta finish is extremely durable however we would ask that care is taken when cleaning as many products contain harsh chemicals that will damage this finish as well as void the warranty. Is it possible to shorten the length of the bar?

Can the Delta Transitional Decorative ADA Grab Bar - 24" be used in the shower and if so, are there any special installations instructions?
I want to use this bar in the shower as a towel bar. Will water affect it (ie rusting) and are there special instructions for installation?
