Hi Chris, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet model 553LF-SS. The stream straightener at the end of the spout is not designed to be easily removed. If needed, a replacement stream straightener is available as part number RP76571. We recommend using needle nose pliers to work it out of the spout. Recommended maintenance is to soak the area with 50/50 white vinegar and water if needed for mineral deposits. Clean the flow restrictor behind the handle cartridge if there is an issue with the faucet's flow rate. Please reach out with any additional questions! We recommend removing the supply lines and flushing with water into a bucket. Then, remove the faucet cartridge and flow restrictor to flush water through the faucet valve. Use a bucket to redirect the water that will shoot from the valve. If the issue remains, replace the cartridge RP50265. Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your Vero® Single Handle Bathroom Faucet In Chrome MODEL#: 553LF. Here is what we can do to resolve your issue for you. We do recommend flushing the valve; It will allow the removal of debris in the lines. Here are the steps for flushing your faucet. Please shut water supplies off before starting this process. You will need Phillip's screwdriver and start by popping the cap off of the handle. Then you would remove your handle with the screwdriver. Please pull the handle off of the cartridge, you will then find the cap and bonnet nut. Both the cap and bonnet nut would be unthreaded from the faucet. The next part you should see is the cartridge, please grab and pull it out. Then, using needle-nose pillars, grab the brass insert and pull it out. Under the insert is the flow restrictor and this is where the blockage would be located, once cleaned follow the directions in reverse for reinstall. Lastly, place the towel behind the back of the handle, then put the bucket over the top of the towel covering the opening in the valve. Have someone turn the cold/hot water supply on for about 30 seconds to a minute. After this, shut the water off and follow the directions above in reverse for the reinstallation of the flow restrictor, cartridge, and handle. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. To remove the bonnet nut on the Delta 553LF faucet, remove the set screw cover with a small tool and loosen the set screw with a 3/32" hex wrench.
