What systems is this control compatible with?
This works with the Delta SteamScape product line. This is an exterior AUX control, it will not work by itself, one would also need the main Thermostat inside the steam room, such as the 5CH-250 model.

I installed the SimpleSteam™ Kit - 10kW in Lumicoat® Chrome Model#: 5P-EST10-PR and was told that the Square Exterior Steam Control was incompatible with my system. Is this true?

That is correct, the Delta Simple Steam Kit has no exterior control.
