Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing but a little work to install Luckily we are in the process of remodeling our bathroom, otherwise it would have been a lot more work to install. He have an older house, so this was a great way to upgrade our bathroom and make it feel like a spa. I love the essential oil reserve, after a stressful day it is an amazing way to unwind. We have hard water, so I am curious to see how it holds up over time.

Does the distance placement of the Steam generator unit effect how long it takes to deliver the steam? For example how long for steam delivery with 4 feet verses 20 feet distance?

Asked by: Carrie
Hello, Yes, if you have a larger plumbing run it will affect the time it takes to produce steam. There will be additional plumbing that will need to be heated up before steam will enter the steam room.

How does this system do with well water?

Asked by: Ryley P
It depends on how often the product is used, if there is an autodrain option installed and on the quality of incoming water from the well.

Can the generator be housed outside if protected by enclosure? If outside, is a drain pan still a better option? Is an auto drain a good option outside in the enclosure

Asked by: Tony
No, the steam generator MUST be installed indoors, under the same conditioned air quality as other indoor products.

Can i use a condensate pump for the drain water? Since its not boiling hot anymore i would think it would be fine.

Asked by: Chuck
It depends on the temperature rating of the pump you are using and if an optional AutoDrain is installed. If there is an optional AutoDrain installed, then the water temp when draining will be under 130ºF.

Asked by: Edward
Inside the steam generator, on the circuit board, there are two fuses. They are 0.25amp, 250Volts, Normal Blow or Slow Blow are proper, just do not use fast-acting fuses.

What has replaced the SM- 11? Who is the local dealer and installation company in my area.

Asked by: Steven
If you have a 60amp breaker, then this is the proper replacement system: 5P-EST12. If the breaker is only a 50amp, then this is the replacement system: 5P-EST10. We would need your location to see if there is a recommended installer in your area, vs using your local Plumber.

Electric specs says something line: Volts/Phase/ Max. Amps = 240/1/42 Question: can it be installed with two phases each around 110/120? (220v, what we usually have in Mexico)

Asked by: Bryan
This product will work on 220Volts in Mexico, however the output will be reduced from 10kw down. Delta offers 220Volt specific products for Mexico, please take a look at the Delta SteamScape product line, models: 5GE-SMP10-220-1 (steam generator) and 5CH-250T-PR (user control with steam head).

Does the auto drain mix with cold water prior to activation? Does it cool the water to an acceptable temperature for discharge into PVC drain/waste plumbing?

The autodrain comes with bare wires (no connector). The instructions show a terminal for connecting to the control board on the steam unit, but no connector on the autodrain wires. Also, the picture does not match the board. How to I make the connection?

Asked by: jonnybgood
The AutoDrain wires are connected inside the valve, the other end of the wires connect to a terminal marked "Drain", which is a green block with two screws in the lower right corner of the circuit board inside the steam generator.

The controller overestimates the temperature inside the shower and turns off. The controller was installed away from the heating unit. Also getting both an E1 error code and E3 error code. Does this mean I need to replace the controller?

Asked by: L Scott
This has to be troubleshot further, please contact the tech support team at steam-product@deltafaucet.com or 800-394-6478. Questions will be, did this issue occur when it was first installed? Where is the control mounted in correlation to the steam outlet?

how difficult would it be to replace an old Steamist SM-5TC generator and controller with this unit?

Asked by: Cynthia Ryan
The Old SM-5-TC has a larger KW Rating than the 5P-EST04. With the correctly sized unit, the unit swap out is straight toward. The control uses a different cable for connection. So a new cable must be run from the steam unit to the steam room.

I see mention of an aroma well on the steamhead but there's no instructions on how that should be used - how much to put in? what to put in it? how often?

Asked by: lemonlymon
You may add a few drops of Aroma Oil into the well and as it heats up, the oil will evaporate into the steam room.

Where is a good place to vent the relief valve line?

Asked by: JJJJ
We recommend to route it to indirect waste. Some people run it to a slop/washer sink, others outdoors. Some run it on a separate pipe into the steam room and locate the outlet in a corner of the room, away from user space.

Thinking about purchasing the Delta 5P-EST10-BL steam generator package. Wanted to know 1) how long does it take for the steam to fill up in the shower 2) how quiet is the generator 3) is the "auto drain" option the same as "auto flush" that I'm seeing

Asked by: Lisa
Hi Lisa, The unit will take about 5 minutes before you start to get steam into the steam room. We state that you should raise the room temp by 25 degrees within the first 15 minutes. We do not have a decible noise level. THe auto drain and auto flush are the same feature.

Our unit will be installed in an unfinished basement close to a floor drain, does it need a drain pan? Also can it be mounted on a shelf and strapped to keep it from moving or a potential fall?

We do not require a Pan. Yes, it may be mounted on a shelf, back of the cabinet has punchouts to allow one to secure it to the wall.
