What diverter handle is needed for this shower head system?

Can a trim kit with diverter be used in lieu of the diverter at the shower head? For accessibility, the diverter being at the shower head is too high and does not comply with code requirements.

The included hand shower, showerhead, and/or adjustable arm can be used with a typical trim and diverter instead of the included shower arm diverter. Can you use this with a bath tub? What type of valve would I need?
