Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extra part needed if installing showerhead-only (n Hooray for cost-cutting. This universal valve can be used with any combination of showerhead and/or tub spout, but if you're only installing one or the other, you'll need a 1/2" plug to block the unused outlet. I assume many of the installations of this valve are for shower-only, and in an effort to save $3 on a piece of brass, Delta ensures another trip to the hardware store for a bunch of us. Thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trusted name & easy install Full disclosure, my plumber did the installation, but I was there at the time. Plumbers prefer Delta and another brand name to anything when installing valves due to the repeated simplicity of installation and knowing the longevity and reliability of the brand. The valve took my plumber approx. 15-20 minutes to install, including bringing the copper to the valve. It arrived in perfect shape and was well protected in the box. Ask most plumbers, they prefer Delta products due to their quality and this valve has lived up to those expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Match [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this valve and had it in my office in days. What I love the most about delta valves is how simple it is to match the valves with the trims since they have developed a universal valve that takes the guessing out of the equation. Not only that, but if you ever have to change the trim, for example, if you decide to redecorate and change the color of the trims, all trims fit most of the valves! Great buy!

Q&A

I bought a Brizo t60p410 which rough valve R10000-unbx or r10000-ip?

Asked by: ed
Hi Ed, Thanks for contacting Delta Faucet. With the trim, T60P410, either the R10000-UNBX or the R10000-IP can be used. The R10000-UNBX can be used with any piping such as copper, iron, pvc or pex. The R10000-IP is specifically for an installation using iron pipe.

Upgrading Porter 142984-BN-A to a Ara Modern Monitor 14 series

We have the shower only Porter (142984-bn-a) with the rough-in installed this year. Do I need a new cartridge for the Delta Ara Modern Monitor 14 Series Stainless Steel Finish Square Single Handle Pressure Balanced Shower Faucet Control or they interchangeable? Are the rough-ins compatible and are the cartridges too?
Asked by: gClueless
Hi gClueless, Thank you for your question! The valve will be an R10000 Universal MultiChoice rough-in, which is interchangeable, and will allow you to install any of our current trim kits such as the Ara 14 Series. Thanks, Jon

We bought a house that has delta monitor 1700 series shower hardware. Is the cartridge universal? We want to change it.

Asked by: jL
Hi jL, Thank you for your question. If you have a 1700 series faucet which would have been manufactured prior to February 2006 the cartridge and rough in valve are not universal. The rough in only uses the RP32104 cartridge. You can put a new 17 series pressure balanced trim onto your existing rough in valve, but you must continue to use the RP32104 cartridge. The cartridge that ships with the new trim will not fit. Thanks, Dave

Does the R10000 Valve work with all Delta and Brizo faucets?

We are remodeling our bathroom and the plumber needs the valve to finish rough plumbing. We have not selected the exact Delta/Brizo shower trim we will have installed. Is the R10000 valve a universal valve that will work with all trim kits? If not, which valve do we have installed that allows us options? We are leaning towards the Brizo T60250 Sotria.
Asked by: Paul
Hi Paul, Thank you for your question! The T60250 will work with the R10000 rough-in valve. However, this valve will not work with high-flow Brizo showers. Best regards, Jon

What model does the R10000 replace, and what year was it introduced?

My house is 11 years old and came with Delta products. I am about to renovate the bathroom and there is nothing wrong with the plumbing behind the wall, so I would like to just replace the trim and cartridge. I am wondering if I may already have the R10000. What year was it introduced? What model does it replace? Is there an easily identifiable way to find out what rough in I have (ie etched model number on a visible part of rough in)? Thanks!
Asked by: Dan
Hi Dan, Thank you for your question. The R10000 multichoice universal rough was introduced in February 2006. The previous rough shipped with the faucet and had no specific part number. Our current T13/14 series trims will fit an older 1300/1400 series rough , and the T17 series Monitor trims will fit an older model 1700 series. The cartridge that ships with the new trims will not fit the old rough in valves. You will have to continue to use the existing cartridge or order a new RP19804 for the 1300/1400 series or a new RP32104 for the 1700 series. The 1300/1400 series are single handle models that operate by turning the handle in a counter-clockwise direction to control the water temperature only. The 1700 series offer control over temperature and volume. Thanks, Dave

I installed the R10000 MultiChoice Rough-in Body, which contain STOPS. The directions don't indicate how many turns from fully closed is considered "Open." How many turns do I open the STOPS?

Asked by: JSMITH318
Thank you for your question, JSMITH318! The Stops will not come out of the valve without removing the nuts that secrue them. You may open these to full flow or they can be turned 3 turns in from full open without a noticeable reduction of flow. Best regards, Edward

Upgrading1400 Series Shower Faucet from 1996

I have a 1400 series shower faucet that I would like to upgrade without replacing the rough-in valve. The rough-in valve was installed in 1996. Is there a shower trim I can upgrade to without replacing the rough-in valve? Would it be possible to convert the rough-in valve or valve cartridge to give me more upgrade trim options without major plumbing? Lastly, I have the Delta Temp2o shower faucet, to upgrade to this new faucet trim would I have to replace the rough-in valve?
Asked by: Ray
Hi Ray, Thank you for your question! You can use current 14 series trim kit (T14_) with the existing rough-in valve. However, you will need to use the existing cartridge as well, or a new RP19804, rather than the cartridge that comes with the trim kit. Unfortunately, Temp2O require you to use a cartridge that will not fit in the existing rough-in valve. Thanks, Jon

What rough in should be purchased for the following shower trim when it is for a shower only (no tub)? Thanks

Delta T14253 Vero Monitor 14 Series Shower Trim with Single Function Showerhead in Chrome
Asked by: scott
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T14253 is recommended to be paired with the R10000-UNBXHF since you have no tub spout. You will get a higher flow from your faucet as the tub port is plugged.

I have a Delta 1300/1400 bathtub faucet single lever, that can only deliver hot water at a very high rate of water flow. How can I change this so

that the water temperature and the water flow rate can be adjusted separately? What parts would I need to buy?
Asked by: LL
Hi LL, Thank you for your question! To change to another series of shower, you will need an R10000 MultiChoice rough-in valve. If you currently have an R10000 valve installed, you can replace your current trim with a 17 or 17T series shower trim, which has separate controls for temperature and volume. Thanks, Jon

Is the r10000 rough in valve body interchangeable with the r11000?

I need a new shower valve to work with an existing r10000 valve body
Asked by: Ann
Hi Ann, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the valves are not interchangeable. The R11000 is a 3/6 Setting Diverter Valve for changing between different showering components such as a shower head, hand shower, body sprays, etc. The R10000 is a Tub and Shower Valve is for the main volume an temperature control. I installed a diverter valve assembly, It's a Model R10000 series, but without the stops. The assembly works, but, the handle is on the left side, rather than the right, and when I turn on the valve, it's hot water immediately. Could it be upside down?
