Dear Lynndon, Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough-In Valve R10000-LBX is not designed with volume or temperature adjustments. The temperature can be adjusted on the cartridge assembly, that would come with the trim you get for your valve. Thank you for your question, Sammy! The R10000-LBX rough-in valve is hollow to allow room for a valve assembly or "cartridge". It contains two inlet ports for hot and cold water supplies and two outlet ports for a shower head and/or tub spout installation. The grey plastic part pictured here is a test cap that allows you to test and flush the valve. Please note, the necessary MultiChoice cartridge will be included in the chosen shower trim. Thank you for your question. The two models are functionally the same model, only the packaging is different. The R10000-LBX is packaged specfically for Lowe's Home Improvement stores. Either one will work for the Delta Faucet model # BT14296-OB

Thank you for your question, Larry. For most installations, we would recommend mounting the valve to a stringer in the wall. If you are unable to do so, you can use the escutcheon plate from the trim kit and the plaster guard to "sandwich" the wall for added stability. If you will not have the trim kit when the valve is installed, we would recommend the R10000-UNBXT, which will include a thin-wall mounting kit.
