Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality, easy install, lots of trim options Not much to say other than it seems to be very well made and robust. I bought this particular variant for the expansion PEX inlet fittings... I just wish the shower outlet was also PEX since that's what I'm using (PEX up to a brass drop ear elbow). So that was one more adapter fitting to buy, but no big deal. I understand why they make that one universal copper/steel. And of course, you shouldn't use PEX for the tub spout outlet, so no issues with lack of PEX connection there.

Q&A

Pex inlet flow restriction...?

The inner dimension of the PEX inlets on these vale bodies are considerably smaller than any 1/2" cold expansion fitting I've seen (picture attached for reference). After referencing different pictures of these cold expansion PEX valve bodies, some versions show larger inner diameters on the inlets, while some are smaller. My questions/concerns: Wouldn't these inlets with a smaller ID restrict water flow? Can you please provide the actual Flow/GPM of this specific valve body with these small inlets? Are the inner diameters of the PEX inlets different between the WS and non-WS versions? Thank You
Asked by: Grizzle
Grizzle, Thank you for your question! There is no difference in inlet diameter between MF and MFWS or any other with and without stops roughs. The difference in the inlets between PEX (MF, PX) and other valve types (UN, IP, etc.) will not produce a noticeable change in the flow rate as the waterways through the cartridge are more restrictive. The cartridge determines the flow rate, so the maximum flow rate will be determined by the series of trim that you use. Here are the approximate flow rates for each series at 60 PSI: 14 series - 5.8 GPM 17 series - 5.9 GPM 17T series - 7.3 GPM Best regards, Jon

Not completely understanding the different pex type of barb fittings, would the R1000-MF or the R1000-PX be the correct choice if my plumbing contractor uses Upinor Propex fittings for his installations? Is there a tech. sheet for fitting profiles?

Asked by: Captain T
Thank you for your question, Captain T! Both the R10000-MF (1/2" PEX cold expansion connections) and the R10000-PX (1/2" PEX Crimp connections) have 1/2" universal outlets with male threads. The difference on these models is solely in the connection for the Inlets. Both will feature universal 1/2" connections, however the R1000-PX will have slightly tapered inlets for easier installation. This would be up to the contractor to decide what methods best suit the installation needs. https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/50353%20Rev%20J.pdf https://media.deltafaucet.com/SpecSheet/DSP-B-R10000%20Rev%20J.pdf Best regards, Edward

Hello Melba! Thank you for your question regarding the Delta Faucet MultiChoice® Universal Tub / Shower Rough - PEX Cold Expansion MODEL#: R10000-MFWS! I do apologize that this information wasn't readily available but I am happy to help. The L in the LBX just means it's from Lowes and is the same as the Delta R10000-UNBX. The R10000-MFWS is manufactured to be used with PEX. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. Best Regards, Antoine

Difference between r100000-unbxj and r10000-ipws

I am planning a complete remodeling of a bathroom. Please advise on the differences between the two Universal and Shower Valve Body.
Asked by: reggie
Hi Reggie, In the abbreviation on the R10000-UNBX the UN stands for Universal connections on Inlets/outlets, BX is a single box model. The abbreviation in the R10000-IPWS the IP stands for iron pipe inlet/outlets and the ws means the rough valve comes with stops. This allows you to turn off the water flow right at the valve vs. turning of the water to the home.

R10000-MFWS

What does the Pex Cold Expansion represent in this code and what would be the benefit of using this valve vs. the R10000-UNWS?
Asked by: Rep.
Hi Rep, Thank you for your question! The R10000-UNWS has 1/2" inlets for copper or iron pipe and would need an adapter to use PEX with with it. The R10000-MFWS is manufactured to be used with PEX. Best regards, Brandis

I dont have tub, is there a part# to plug the lower port ?

Asked by: crg63
Hello Crg63, Thank you for your question! Unfortunaely, we do not manufacture any plugs for this valve. You can cap off the bottom port with your choice of 1/2" outlet pipe plug. The plug can be threaded or soldered. Best regards, Tanya
