Have a Monitor 1700 series shower. I would like to update. How do I identify' the rough body? Will 17 series sets work here? What are my options in brushed nickel?
Asked by: Mike C
Hello Mike C,
Thank you for your question. As long as the screw holes on your large round escutcheon plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions and you do not have a push button shower diverter directly below the off and on handle, then any of the Delta tub and shower trim kits that start with a T17, except for the T17T series trim kits will interchange for you. You can also install the R10000-UNBX with any 17 series trim kit of your choice.

How to test and flush
On step 4, your installation instructions say to "Reinstall cap and bonnet and tighten securely. Plug both outlets with proper fittings. Check for leaks."
Firstly, you only provided one "reusable test plug" yet you say to plug both outlets. You also say to reinstall cap and bonnet before putting the plugs in, which is impossible, unless the plug actually goes on the outside of the valve somewhere for testing. Secondly, you don't say how to go about checking for leaks. Do I simply turn the water supply on for X amount of time or how long is sufficient? Do you have a video on this procedure? I can't find it on your support page. More detailed instructions would be helpful.
Additionally, do you recommend a specific type of cap for the lower port if I am not using with a tub spout? I.e. Must it be brass or can it be iron, etc.?
Asked by: asmad
Hi Asmad, Thank you for your question. Step 4 is in regards to pressure testing the valve. The outlets that are referred to are the tub spout and showerhead stub outs. Once those are plugged and the test cap and bonnet are installed you can pressure test all of your connections.
The test plug to plug the ports in the valve body itself when fully pushed in will fit under the test cap to check flow from the hot and cold ports in the valve.
To test for leaks you do just turn on the water and let it run long enough to verify that there are no leaks in your system.
We offer the RP20032 plug that can be sweated into the tub port on a R10000-UNBX or a brass 1/2" cap will work as well.
Thanks,
Dave

I'm planning a shower with a Dryden T17251-SS Trim kit but want to add a hand shower.
I'm planning a Dryden shower using the T17251-SS trim kit and a R10000-BNX valve. I want to add a 55051 hand shower, but am unclear what i need to make that happen. I think I need a 50570 elbow and an R11000 diverter. Am I on the right track? I'm not installing this myself, but I don't want to be surprised when I'm told I need more parts than just the trim kit and hand shower. Thanks!
Asked by: BRETT
Hi Brett,
Thank you for your question! For your setup, you will need an elbow (50570) and R11000 Diverter Rough-In Valve along with a 3-Setting Diverter Trim such as the T11851-SS. This will provide individual and shared settings for the shower head and hand shower.

Hi, DPM1!
Thank you for your question. The filter screen is not needed in the Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNBX Rough In valve body once the cartridge is installed.

Question about depth of valve.
I am replacing my 25 year old Delta shower valve. I have been looking at various brands and models. The valve I am replacing takes out 2" from the face of the shower wall to the center of my 1/2" piping. I don't see this measurement in the specs of this valve, but they appear to be about 2". Is this correct? I see that some other companies valves take out a minimum of 2 3/4" which would be too much for my replacement.
Asked by: DJ
Hi DJ,
Thank you for your question. The rough-in valve will require 2 3/4" from the stringer to the finished wall. The center of the piping would be less than 2" from the finished wall.

Thank you for your question. The Peerless Claymore Tub and Shower PTT188790-BN faucet contains a rotational limit stop that may need adjusting to allow more hot water to flow through the valve. Included here are the instructions for adjusting the limit stop. The directions are on page 5 module 9 labeled "Adjusting The Rotational Limit Stop".

Will the Delta MultiChoice Universal Tub and Shower work with other brand name faucet/shower trims/cartridges?
Also, will it work with a two shower head configuration. If so, what other valves or cartridges would it need to keep temperature and pressure consistent if both were used simultaneously?
Asked by: SE
Hi SE, Thank you for your question!
Our Delta products are manufactured to only be used with other Delta products. We are unable to tell you if our rough in valve will work on other brands trims/cartridges. Also, the valve is not manufactured to control two separate shower heads. You will need either a shower arm diverter or a in wall diverter such as our R11000 3 port 6 function diverter with your choice of trim.

We have a RP16207 cartridge in our shower. Will the valve body we have accept the latest Delta shower kits?
Asked by: Kevin
Thank you for your question, Kevin! Unfortunately a newer multichoice cartridge will not work in a 1500 series valve body, however if the screws on the escutcheon plate are at 1 & 7, then you can use RP29405 1500 to 1700 conversion kit. Otherwise, you will need to replace your valve with the R10000-UNBX multichoice valve body which allows the option of switching between the T13/T14/T17 and T17T series trim kits easily.

Looking for valve to work with Vero trim which has temperature and flow control.
Asked by: Steve
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX is a valve. Your trim package will determine your flow control and temperature control. To get the best flow control and temperature control, pick a trim package that starts with T17T. This is our thermostatic trim. You will have separate control over volume and temperature.

I just installed a R10000unws tub/shower valve and have water coming out of the shower head and tub spout all the time?
Even though I have not pulled the shower knob up on the tub spout to activate the shower head, water is coming out of both the tub spout and shower head?
Is there a direction (top or bottom) that you have to install the rough-in valve? Can you connect the tub spout or shower head up to either port?
Asked by: Joe
Hi Joe, We are sorry that you are experiencing a problem with your faucet. Most likely, you are experiencing "shower-rise" where the water can’t get out of the spout as fast as it flows through the valve. This causes the water to back up and come out the shower head. There can be one of several reasons for this:
The valve could be upside down
The length from the valve to the tub spout is outside of the 8" to 18" rule
There is more than one 90-degree angle
Something other than copper or galvanized pipe was used going to the spout
The most common reason is that there is something restricting the water flow to the spout, e.g. solder or something lodged in the pipe. Something is impeding the flow of water to the spout and causing it to back up and go out the shower head. If this is the cause of shower-rise it is possible to remove the blockage by removing the tub spout; then, feeding a plumber’s snake or a speedometer cable up through the tub drop. The act of feeding it causes it to twirl and loosen the blockage. Be sure to flush the valve before reinstalling the tub spout. Be sure to check the tub spout itself for blockage.
If none of these help, you may need to call a plumber. After the shower has been installed and the wall has been closed, there is little that can be done to remedy this situation yourself.

Stops touch escutcheon
The valve stops stick out, blocking the escutcheon from screwing tight to the shower surround. Is there a shallow escutcheon plate or spacer that will fix this?
Asked by: Sky
Hi Sky,
Thank you for your question! Please make sure that the plaster guard is flush (or up to 3/8" sub flush) with the finished wall.
If the valve is out too far, you may turn the stops 3 turns in from the full open position without a noticeable reduction of flow. This will provide an additional 1/8” of clearance for the escutcheon.

Jon

In a 1-pc. fiberglass shower/tub , what size holes are needed for single lever faucet and tub spout ?
I am installing a 1755rb-716rb set and have to drill holes for valve and spout .
Asked by: Doug
Hi Doug,
Thank you for your question!
The hole for the valve should be cut to the size of the plaster guard which is 4" x 4".
The hole for the size of the tub spout should be at least 1/2" for the pipe to fit through and no larger than the diameter of the tub spout, which is 3 1/8" on this model.

R10000 Rough in Body w/Stops version. (17T)
On either side of the valve body, there are two (2) mechanical stem and nut assemblies. I assume, when turning the stem(s) clockwise, and the stem(s) bottom out, this will stop the flow of water completely.
Conversely, if I turn the stem counter-clockwise the flow of water increases. How can I tell, without backing the stem out further than need be, will I get full flow?
Instructions say " adjust stem clockwise to close, and counterclockwise to open".
I'm not sure if I understand the purpose of these stops.
Thanks
Asked by: Rick
Hi Rick,
Thank you for your question. These stops are designed to turn the water off directly at the valve during installation or repairs. They should be left in the open position when the trim is installed, as the cartridge will be used to turn the water on and off.
