What is the difference between the Universal valve model R10000-UNWS and R10000- UNBX?
Asked by: Scott H
Hi, Scott H!
Thank you for your question. The difference between the R10000-UNWS and the R10000-UNBX is that the R10000-UNWS includes "stops". These stops allow you to shut the water off at the faucet instead of shutting off the water to the whole house, if you need to do maintenance or repairs to the faucet. With a flat head screwdriver, you would adjust the stems clockwise to close and counterclockwise to open.

Will trim kit #B114915C work with this?
Asked by: JLHardy
Hello JLHardy,
Thank you for your question. The Delta Foundations Tub and Shower B114915C model includes the necessary rough-in valve and cartridge assembly. It will not fit on a MultiChoice R10000-UN valve. MultiChoice valves work with 14, 17, or 17T series trim kits.

We have a Delta (addison) tub faucet Model R10000 - water isn't hot
How do we adjust it to make the water hot? Can't find anything in the instructions that came with it.
Thanks,
Asked by: pegjamo
Thank you for your question. Your Addison tub faucet contains a rotational limit stop. that may need adjusting to allow more hot water to flow through the valve. Included here are the instructions for adjusting the limit stop. The first one is if you have a 1700 series faucet with a temperature knob and volume control that are separate. The instructions are on page 9.
http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/t17292-ss.html?document=mi&documentIndex=0#flashWrapper
The second set are for the 1400 series faucet with only a temperature contol. The directions are on page 8.

How to use with 13 series trim
I recently purchased the T13020-SS trim (13 series), however I cannot install the cartridge for it because the cartridge is longer in depth than can fit into this valve body. The current cartridge in the valve body is the RP46463 (17 series), which is shorter than the 13 series cartridge.
Is there a way to make the 13 series cartridge fit in this valve body?
Asked by: Jon
Hi John, Thank you for your question. The RP46074 cartridge that comes in the T13020-SS trim will work with a R10000-UNBX multichoice valve. Please verify that the 17 series cartridge adapter RP46073 that is part of the RP46463 cartridge is no longer in the valve body.
http://www.deltafaucet.com/repairparts/details/rp46073.html
If your existing valve is older than February 2006 it is a pre-multichoice valve and the current 13 and 17 series cartridges do not work in the older rough in valve.
Thanks,
Dave

The stops on the R10000-UNWS are for turning the water off at the shower versus turning the water off to the whole house

Thank you for your question. Yes, the Delta MultiChoice Universal Valve R10000-UNBX or R10000-PX can be used with PEX tubing, you would want to make sure that you use proper fitting with each type and proper tooling with crimping PEX fitting and cold expansion PEX models.

We had the R 10000 valve and the T 17294 shower faucet installed in November. We are getting complaints from visitors that the water pressure is weak.
Can we make any adjustment to the valve or shower head to improve the water pressure which was fine before our new valve and shower head were installed? Pressure is also fine in the rest of the condo.
Asked by: Gregg
Hi, Gregg!
Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing low flow from your Delta shower.
You may have some debris trapped in the valve body or cartridge assembly that is blocking the water flow.
You may need to clean out the cartridge assembly and flush out the valve body. First turn off the water supply to the faucet. Remove the handle assembly, unscrew the bonnet ring and remove the cartridge assembly and all seals. Rinse and clean the cartridge out thoroughly. Turn both the hot and cold water back on for 10 to 15 seconds to flush out the valve body. After the allotted time, turn the water off and reinstall all of the components. Make sure that there is no debris on the cartridge assembly and seals.
If this does not resolve your issue, then the cartridge assembly may need to be replaced.

Rosanna

R10000-UNBX Has a minimum Spec for the tub spout of 8", Can I make it 6 1/2 inches
I am doing a three knob retrofit on a tile wall, the distance from the center of the valve to where the old tub spout is about 6 1/2 inches not the specified minimum of 8". I am using a R10000-UNBX , with the escutcheon and a T17430-H2O trim kit. It will be a lot of extra work to get the 8 inch minimum distance from the center of the valve to the tub spout, is this a strict minimum dimension? Is there something I can do, such as wider or narrower pipe to the spout and only have a 6 1/2 inche distance from the center of the valve to the spout. The shower function(Not The Tub) will be used 99.9% of the time,
Thanks,
Greg
Asked by: Greg
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, this has to be the measurement. It needs to be between 8" and 18" or you will probably have shower rise. Shower rise means the water will rise up and come out the showerhead when you are trying to use the tub spout only.

17 Series cartridge adapter installation
I have the R10000-PXWS universal valve and the cartridge that came with our trim kit is a 17 series. The instructions say to push the cartridge adapter into the valve assembly and then screw that in place to secure it. This valve assembly does not have a hole to receive the screw. Instead there is an empty space where the screw hole should be.
I can remove the screw entirely and install the adapter, then the cartridge. Would this be secure enough once the retaining ring is tightened over the cartridge?
Asked by: Richard
Hi Richard,
Thank you for your question! The valve has been redesigned, and the screw is no longer needed to secure the adapter.

New trim for old valve body
I need to replace the trim package on my existing Monitor 1700 Series shower valve. The existing cartridge is an RP32104 (white top, single tab on left). The valve body seems to be an older model that has screwdriver stop assemblies soldered to both sides and the threaded screw holes for the escutcheon trim screws are both on the bottom of the side of the body. All of the replacement trim packages show the screws on the lower left and upper right so they don't line up with the screw holes on my valve body. The new mounting brackets don't seem to provide an access to the screwdriver stops. Is there an adaptor or some other way to mount a new trim package to this valve body?
Asked by: philimus
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is not a trim that will fit your current valve body. You will need to replace the valve too. We recommend Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX multi-choice valve.
Or if you want to keep the screwdriver stops like on your current valve, then we would recommend Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNWS. This would allow you to turn the water off at the valve for servicing instead of the whole house.

why can't I use pet tubing for the tub spout?
Asked by: EZELA
Hello Ezela !
Thank you for your question regarding the Delta R10000-UNBX MultiChoice® Universal Tub / Shower Rough - Universal Inlets / Outlets!
I am sorry this information was not readily available, and I am happy to help you!
If you use pex and not 1/2 inch copper or galvanized you will end up with shower rise. Shower rise is when the water can’t get out of the tub spout as fast as it flows through the valve. This causes the water to back up and come out the shower head when the user only wants the tub spout to flow. Even though pex is 1/2 inch, the diameter inside is smaller.
Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance.
Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer.

Hello Mike C,
Thank you for your question. As long as the screw holes on your large round escutcheon plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions and you do not have a push button shower diverter directly below the off and on handle, then any of the Delta tub and shower trim kits that start with a T17, except for the T17T series trim kits will interchange for you. You can also install the R10000-UNBX with any 17 series trim kit of your choice.

How to test and flush
On step 4, your installation instructions say to "Reinstall cap and bonnet and tighten securely. Plug both outlets with proper fittings. Check for leaks."
Firstly, you only provided one "reusable test plug" yet you say to plug both outlets. You also say to reinstall cap and bonnet before putting the plugs in, which is impossible, unless the plug actually goes on the outside of the valve somewhere for testing. Secondly, you don't say how to go about checking for leaks. Do I simply turn the water supply on for X amount of time or how long is sufficient? Do you have a video on this procedure? I can't find it on your support page. More detailed instructions would be helpful.
Additionally, do you recommend a specific type of cap for the lower port if I am not using with a tub spout? I.e. Must it be brass or can it be iron, etc.?
Asked by: asmad
Hi Asmad, Thank you for your question. Step 4 is in regards to pressure testing the valve. The outlets that are referred to are the tub spout and showerhead stub outs. Once those are plugged and the test cap and bonnet are installed you can pressure test all of your connections.
The test plug to plug the ports in the valve body itself when fully pushed in will fit under the test cap to check flow from the hot and cold ports in the valve.
To test for leaks you do just turn on the water and let it run long enough to verify that there are no leaks in your system.
We offer the RP20032 plug that can be sweated into the tub port on a R10000-UNBX or a brass 1/2" cap will work as well.
Thanks,
Dave

I am concern about soldering copper pipe into a copper fitting that is threaded onto a port the soldered end is close to the threaded end and I am concerned that the heat will damage the threads.

Thank you for your question! This valve has 1/2" NPT male threads with 1/2" female sweat supply fittings. Smooth 1/2" copper pipes can be soldered directly into the valve. PEX piping can also be used with Delta Universal MultiChoice valve assembly R10000-UN model.

I'm planning a shower with a Dryden T17251-SS Trim kit but want to add a hand shower.
I'm planning a Dryden shower using the T17251-SS trim kit and a R10000-BNX valve. I want to add a 55051 hand shower, but am unclear what i need to make that happen. I am now installing the hardibacker for my shower. Do I cut a square hole around the black plastic piece, or just a circular hole around the other thin plastic cover? Does the square black plastic piece stay in place or do I remove it?
