I need to order the proper fitting in order to install our delta faucet set. I cant figure out the difference between R10000-UNBX and R10000-UN. Also is there a three neck hook-up version?
Asked by: Casey
Hi, Casey!
Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice Universal rough valve bodies R10000-UNBX and R10000-UN are the same and have no differences. For a 3 neck hook-up, we recommend to add a diverter valve to the top port to be able to install additional shower units.

I had R10000s installed in 3 showers with the Trinsic trim kit. My problem is that the hot/cold is reversed on all 3. Dial to the left (red dot) it gets cold, to the right (blue dot) it gets hot. This is wrong, isn't it? Plumber says no. THX
Asked by: renmarq
Hi, Renmarq!
Thank you for your question. You are correct, the hot should be on the left side. The cold should be towards the right side.

Can a R-1000RN rough-in valve be used with T17264 and RP77091 to add tub function
Hello, and thanks in advance for your help.
Can a R-1000RN rough-in valve be used behind the Aslyn Monitor 17 T17264 trim kit (and using the RP77091 tub spout with diverter) to add a tub function? In other words, will the T17264's dual function cartridge properly insert and function in the R-10000RN rough-in valve? (Dual function = separate pressure control coupled with separate temperature control)
Note: I don't think that it's an issue, but my install will also include a Delta R11000 3-function diverter after the R1000UN rough-in valve.
Asked by: garies
Dear Garies,
Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice Rough-In R10000-UNBX Valve is recommended to used T17264 (shower only) or the T17464 (tub/shower). The Delta Diverter R11000 Valve would be installed above it.

What is highest flow valve for filling a bathtub
What is the rate, gallons/minute of each Delta valve?
Asked by: Karen
Thank you for your question, Karen. The R10000-UNBX valve is the highest flow rate for the tub spout. The actual flow rate will depend on the water pressure in the home and the trim series that you install. Here are the flow rates from this valve (tub spout port) at 60 PSI:
14 Series: 6.0 GPM
17 Series: 6.2 GPM
17T Series: 7.8 GPM

What is the GPM flow rate of the R10000-UNBX rough in valve. I believe this takes the RP46463 cartridge assembly.
Asked by: Edward
Hi, Edward!
Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice R10000-UNBX rough in valve will not determine the flow rate. The trim kit that is selected to be installed with the rough in valve will include the valve cartridge assembly and will determine the flow rate for the unit.

In a 1-pc. fiberglass shower/tub , what size holes are needed for single lever faucet and tub spout ?
I am installing a 1755rb-716rb set and have to drill holes for valve and spout .
Asked by: Doug
Hi Doug,
Thank you for your question!
The hole for the valve should be cut to the size of the plaster guard which is 4" x 4".
The hole for the size of the tub spout should be at least 1/2" for the pipe to fit through and no larger than the diameter of the tub spout, which is 3 1/8" on this model.

How accurate and how stable is the temperature control for this valve? If the user selects say, "100 degrees", (F), will it stay within a degree of that temperature?
Thanks very much in advance for responding.

Asked by: Batcave
Thank you for your question, Batcave! The R10000-UNBX MultiChoice Universal valve does not control temperature but rather acts as a simple mixing valve. The pressure balanced 13/14/17 series cartridges as well as the T17T trims which include a TempAssure Thermostatic cartridge will keep the temperature between ±3° F (±1.6° C) at all times.

I have a R100000-UNBX for a shower only installation. Can I just plug the tub outlet at the valve? Or do I need to exchange it for a UNBXH?
Asked by: Bill
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model R10000-UNBX can be used for a shower only application by pluggin the tub port. Model number R10000-UNBXHF is for shower only applications and if you would like higher flow from your valve. If you already have the R10000-UNBX, you can use it for a shower only application.

Is the model number printed on the valve somewhere?
My contractor has installed a Delta shower control valve as part of my bathroom remodel, but I can't tell which model it is, and want to know which shower/tub faucet combos I can consider. In particular, I like the Leland T14478-LHP H777 because I want a single porcelain lever. Which control valves will work with that faucet set? I've tried to look for a model number on the installed valve but don't know where to look or what distinguishes one from the other.
Asked by: Brian
Thank you for your question. The model number is not printed anywhere on our valves. If your contractor recently installed your Delta valve, it is a very good possibility that it is the R10000 series and the trim you are looking at will work just fine. In fact, with the R10000 series, you can change the trim as often as you like from the 1300/1400 to the 1700 series without going into the wall to change the valve.

Delta MultiChoice Valves
I am building 2 bathrooms and am looking at Delta faucets, etc. However, I have been warned to stay away from plumbing fixtures that have plastic pieces. Can you tell me if there is any plastic in the multichoice shower valve and what type of cartridge does the valve have? Ceramic, the new DST? Thank you.
Asked by: bkj03
Hi bkj03, The R10000 multichoice universal rough is made of brass. The rough will take our RP46074 single function pressure balanced cartridge, the RP46463 dual function pressure balanced cartridge, and the RP47201 dual function thermostatic cartridge. The cartridges use polymer seals, they are not ceramic.

R10000 Rough in Body w/Stops version. (17T)
On either side of the valve body, there are two (2) mechanical stem and nut assemblies. I assume, when turning the stem(s) clockwise, and the stem(s) bottom out, this will stop the flow of water completely.
Conversely, if I turn the stem counter-clockwise the flow of water increases. How can I tell, without backing the stem out further than need be, will I get full flow?
Instructions say " adjust stem clockwise to close, and counterclockwise to open".
I'm not sure if I understand the purpose of these stops.
Thanks
Asked by: Rick
Hi Rick,
Thank you for your question. These stops are designed to turn the water off directly at the valve during installation or repairs. They should be left in the open position when the trim is installed, as the cartridge will be used to turn the water on and off.

Jon

Tankless/On Demand Water Heater Compatible?
We are looking on upgrading our water heater to some type of tankless style. Will this valve still operate properly with a tankless water heater? Have you had any issues/concerns with these installs?
Asked by: Kayla
Hi Kayla, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNBX multichoice universal rough will not have any issues with a tankless water heater. We recommend using the valve with our 13/14 series trims with a single function pressure balanced cartridge or our 17 series trims with a dual function pressure balanced cartridge when using a tankless water heater.

Can I exceed the 18 inch max distance from valve to tub spout
I will be mounting a tub spout very near the floor of a shower stall and a rain head from the ceiling. I want to use the spout to drain the pipe to shower head and to let water warm up before diverting flow to rain head. The distance from valve to tub spout will be about 36 inches (3 times the max). Should I increase the size of the spout supply to 3/4 to reduce pressure so I don't have water flow through rain head until diverter is closed.
Asked by: Jon
Dear Jon,
Thank you for your question. When using the Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough-In valve R10000-UN, the length between the valve and the tub spout has to be between 8"-18". If it is more than 18", you will have a situation called shower rise where water comes out of the showerhead when you only have the tub spout running.

I have 1/2 copper supply behind my wall. If I want control shower head, tub spout, and shower wand from a diverter, would I use this R10000 along with the R11000 and a non diverting tub spout?
Asked by: Bernard
Hi, Bernard!
Thank you for your question. We do recommend to install the R10000 MultiChoice valve body with a R11000 Diverter valve body to connect a shower head and hand shower. We recommend to install a diverter tub spout to the bottom port of the R10000 MultiChoice valve body. You will then be able to divert the water from the tub spout to the R11000 diverter assembly.
