Excellent Design, Gteat product
My bath does not have seperate shutoff valves. Once I sweat in the plumbing to this valve I coud shut off these valves built into this rough in fixture and turn on the water source to the rest of my home.
This allowed me to complete this project with water still available to my home.

Valve Upgrade
This new rough-in valve gave us the flexibility to install a shower handle with temperature control independent of the water volume. Went it easily and works great. Best of all, if access to the cartridge is needed in the future, it can easily be done by just removing the handle and not cutting into the wall! Easy to order, great price and excellent delivery time.

Extremely easy to install !
Replaced another kitchen faucet that wasn't a Delta, the delta is so much better quality, easy to install and if it last as long as the rest of the delta products I have in my home, I shouldn't have to replace this one for a long, long time.

Works as expected
Not much to say. How do you review a rough in valve? It arrived as advertised, was installed by a professional plumber, and so far is functioning properly. I hope that remains the case as it is now buried behind expensive tile.

So far, so good
Our contractor installed this valve in our new bathroom. We purchased the one with "service stops" because we were told these "stops" allowed you to turn off the water here and not have to turn water off to the whole house. It seems to work because our shower works fine.
Obviously, I'm not a contractor and had no clue what this was for, but our contractor indicated it worked fine, too.
I'm not sure how much these cost at retail and I can't speak about the quality other than our experience. It seems to do the job it's supposed to.

I almost exclusively use Delta faucets so I go through many of these. The valve is well made brass and you can knock out the reducer for commercial applications to increase flow rate. The bracket is another story. It is usually damaged from the box (bent) and is made of cheap composite metal so bending it back usually breaks it. It also won't stand up to the torch while sweating. I buy several extra brackets to keep on hand to replace. Maybe Delta will make them out of brass one day...

Rough-in Valve - Stop Valve
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our master bath is now remodeled. Thé valve seems to be working properly. It has a stop valve. Should we ever have issues with the spray or handle, the water can be turned off without affecting the kitchen and main bath.
As far as water flow, I use a hand held spray; and, it works well for us.

My plumber said that I would need them and that this brand/type would be the ones for my chosen shower heads. They seemed to be easily installed. He liked them so I like them.

Beware - Lower Flow!
Flow rate is closer to 2.0 GPM. Valve, and faucet attachments, all contain more plastic parts than I expected.
I will buy Moen for my next bathroom. Moen has less plastic parts.

Second Fail in Less Than Four Years
My first experience with this valve was a total fail. I had the unfortunate experience of receiving a defective part. Delta was great about sending me a replacement at no cost. That one worked well for three years. Over time, less and less water comes through. If I push it all the way to cool, I get lots of water, when I mix in the hot water, it slows to a trickle. Time to contact Delta again. I'm confident that they will send me a replacement valve again (it has a lifetime warranty), but I will still need to get a plumber out here.

One of the sides on this product leaked. There must have been a defect in the threading. Could not move on with remodel due to time wasted on this.

Are there plugs available for the ports the service stops go in, I might not have the clearance for the stop stems for the cover plate to mount flush

Can I buy extra parts to upgrade the R10000-UNWS & T17253 to equal the T17T453?
I need to add a bathtub faucet and thermostatic cartridge. If I buy the RP53419SS faucet and the RP47201 thermostatic cartridge, will they work with the R10000-UNWS MultiChoice Rough and T17253 shower trim kit?

Thank you for your question. While the tub spout would work, the thermostatic cartridge RP47201 would not work with the handles for the T17253. You would also need the RP62960 volume handle, RP62959 temperature knob, and RP50879 sleeve.

I just installed a R10000unws tub/shower valve and have water coming out of the shower head and tub spout all the time?
Even though I have not pulled the shower knob up on the tub spout to activate the shower head, water is coming out of both the tub spout and shower head?
Is there a direction (top or bottom) that you have to install the rough-in valve? Can you connect the tub spout or shower head up to either port?
Hi Joe, We are sorry that you are experiencing a problem with your faucet. Most likely, you are experiencing "shower-rise" where the water can’t get out of the spout as fast as it flows through the valve. This causes the water to back up and come out the shower head. There can be one of several reasons for this:
The valve could be upside down
The length from the valve to the tub spout is outside of the 8" to 18" rule
There is more than one 90-degree angle
Something other than copper or galvanized pipe was used going to the spout
The most common reason is that there is something restricting the water flow to the spout, e.g. solder or something lodged in the pipe. Something is impeding the flow of water to the spout and causing it to back up and go out the shower head. If this is the cause of shower-rise it is possible to remove the blockage by removing the tub spout; then, feeding a plumber’s snake or a speedometer cable up through the tub drop. The act of feeding it causes it to twirl and loosen the blockage. Be sure to flush the valve before reinstalling the tub spout. Be sure to check the tub spout itself for blockage.
If none of these help, you may need to call a plumber. After the shower has been installed and the wall has been closed, there is little that can be done to remedy this situation yourself.

Stops touch escutcheon
The valve stops stick out, blocking the escutcheon from screwing tight to the shower surround. Is there a shallow escutcheon plate or spacer that will fix this?

Thank you for your question! Please make sure that the plaster guard is flush (or up to 3/8" sub flush) with the finished wall.
If the valve is out too far, you may turn the stops 3 turns in from the full open position without a noticeable reduction of flow. This will provide an additional 1/8” of clearance for the escutcheon.

my brother has a new shower and the handle on the valve trim will only turn a quarter of the way. He gets very little hot water
Could he need the temperature limit stop adjusted. Or could something else cause this
Hi Iku1, Thank you for your question. The motion of the handle will run from 3 o-clock (off) to 12 o-clock (full on). The faucet is equipped with a rotational limit stop where you set how hot the water can get. I have attached a link to a video to show you how to make this adjustment.

Does the r10000 valve with stops includes the screw valves? Or do you have to buy the apart?

I would like to know if this product will fit any Delta shower trim kit, or even a trim kit from another manufacturer like Kohler or Moen in case I want to change the trim in the future. Also, will this product work with a combination showerhead/handheld

Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNWS rough valve body works with any of our Delta 13/14, 17, and 17T series trim kits. We cannot guarantee that they will fit with other brand trim kits. The valve body does work with both shower head and tub spout installations.
