Selecting valve for Trinsic 17 shower, UN or UNBX or UNWS
What are the differences between UN and UNBX valves? Also considering UNWS and possible advantage of stops.
Asked by: Chuck
Hi Chuck, Thank you for your question. There is no difference between the R10000-UN and R10000-UNBX. The R10000-UN is sold in case quantities of 12 pieces only. The R10000-UNBX can be purchased individually. The advantage of using the R10000-UNWS is that if you need to work on or service the tub/shower faucet you will be able to shut off the water supply at the faucet and not have to shut off the water to the rest of the house.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi NSL!
Thanks for your question! The R10000-UNWS-3 is the same valve except the package contains 3 valves. So if you are wanting to purchase just one valve, you'll want to purchase the R10000-UNWS.

I have a R10000-UNBX valve and was wondering if it is pressure balanced or anti-scald.
Asked by: Bill T
Hi Bill, Thank you for your question. The cartridge actually comes with whatever trim you select. The 13/14 series features a single function pressure balanced cartridge, the 17 series has a dual function pressure balanced cartridge, and the 17T series has a thermostatic cartridge. All will offer scald guard protection.
Thanks,

R10000-UNWS Supply Pipe Sizing
I purchased a R10000-UNWS for my shower along with a rainhead and handheld wand. The valve body appears to come with 3/4 in fittings but my house piping is 1/2 inch copper pipe. Is is OK to use an adapter from 1/2 to 3/4 into the hot/cold water suply without adversly affecting the performance. My water pressure runs between 60-70 psi. If not, do you have models with a 1/2 in fitting?
Thanks in advance
Dan
Asked by: Dan
Hi Dan,
Thank you for your question! This valve has 1/2" NPT male threads with 1/2" female sweat supply fittings. Smooth 1/2" copper pipes can be soldered directly into the valve.

Hi, I bought this rough in valve to use with T14259-LHD, and then decided I wanted a handheld shower 55085. Are all of these compatible? Will I be able to use the shower head and handheld separately? If so, how?
Asked by: Belle28
Thank you for your question, Belle28! Model T14259-LHD is compatible and can be used with a hand shower if you use a shower arm diverter to switch between the two. Below is a link to some Delta Shower Arm Diverter options.

How do I find trim kits for this valve?
Asked by: knarans
Thank you for your question. Delta model #R10000-UNWS is our Multichoice Universal rough. This will work with an array of tub/shower trims that have a single, dual, or dual thermostatic cartridge. Throughout our website, we recommend searching for tub/shower units that begin with T13*** or T14*** for the single; T17*** for the dual, or T17T*** for the thermostatic trim options. The cartridge will ship with the trim package selected.

I would like to mount the valve higher than 18" from the spout. Can this be done? if the pipe is upsized does that make a difference?
thanks
Asked by: Art Vandelay
Hi, Art.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the Delta MultiChoice Universal R10000-UNBX Rough In Valve Body and tub spout must be installed between 8"-18" to prevent Shower Rise. A bigger pipe will not make a difference. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I want to replace my existing shower.
I am looking at the shower / trim T17278 and separate slide bar handshower 57014. I want to be able to switch between the showerhead and handshower at the on / off control. I want to be able to have one or the other or both on at the same time .... Am I looking at the right products? What valve do I need to make this work?
Thanks
Asked by: Bob
you would want a R10000UNBX valve for the shower trim and also a R1000 transfer valve. one is a pressure balance valve and the other is a transfer valve. With a transfer valve you cannot have "shared" functions but you can have one or the other functions. best of luck.

Is this a temp balancing valve?
Will it prevent burns if someone flushes toilet?
Asked by: DIY Gal
Hi, DIY Gal!
Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNBX is the valve body that holds the valve cartridge in for your shower trim. All valve cartridges that can be used with this R10000-UNBX rough valve are pressure balanced or thermostatic so that you will not get scalded when using other plumbing in your home.

I am hooking up a shower head and a handheld shower head on a bar w/ a supply elbow and need to divert one to the other.(there will not be a tub spout)
Im not sure if I bought the right thing. Do I need a in-wall diverter? I cant put a in-line by the shower head because the person is handi-capped and will not be able to reach high.

Rough-in Valve R10000-UNWS
I have R10000-UNWS Rough-in valve, and I am going to plug the tub spout port(buttom threaded male port), as there is no plan to install tub spout, and this is for T17294-SS-I only. Could you instruct me what kind of pipe/tube cap to use for plugging this port - dimension/size, material type, spec.
Thanks very much for your help.
Ken
Asked by: Ken
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNWS can have the tub port plugged if you are not using a tub spout. We do not supply the plugs. It is a 1/2" pipe and if you contact your local retailer or wholesaler, they should be able to supply you with the appropriate plug.

How do I know which rough-in valve I need?
I'm remodeling our bathroom and going with the Delta windemere tub/shower trim kit with the RP46074 cartridge. It indicates that I need to go with the multi-choice R10000 rough-in valve, however there are several to choose from. How do I know which one I need?
Asked by: Liz
Hi Liz, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNBX is the most commonly used version of the rough. If you want to be able to shut the water off at the faucet when doing any repairs the R10000-UNWS will work for you as well.

How do you remove the Bonnet from the Rough-In Assembly
The Bonnet is tightly attached to Rough-In. What is the best way to remove it without damaging the Rough-in?
Asked by: Brian_Okc
Hi Brian, Thank you for your question. If your bonnet nut is hard to remove we recommend soaking a towel in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water and wrapping the towel around the bonnet nut. Allow the towel to soak overnight if possible. This should help break up the mineral build up allowing the nut to be removed.
Thanks,
Dave

What can you do if your plastic square is sticking outside of the finished wall?
We had the plumbers come out to install the R10000UNWS along with the R11000 diverter. The diverter is perfect; however it seems that when we put up the wall board it just sits on top of the plastic square. It looks as though once we do the thin set and tile it will be flush. Is there something else we can do?
Asked by: blondie33015
Hi Blondie, Thank you for your question. For with stops models, which includes the R10000-UNWS the plasterguard must be flush or subflush 1/4" to finished wall. The finished wall would include the tile in your application.

Dave
