Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 thumbs up This is my favorite rough in valve. The built in shutoffs are super convenient in the installation process, but also, if the cartridge ever needs to be cleaned or worked on, you can shut off the water right at the valve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well, easy to install We got the one without the bottom fitting for the tub as it's just a shower and this made for one less fitting to solder. It's described as a high flow but that was one disappointment with the delta system is the flow is a little low. I think hand held/fixed shower head combo is the problem. I'm going to check it to see if there's a flow reducer that I can remove or drill out.

Q&A

Is. Rp19804. The right cartridge for R10000unws?

Asked by: Frank
Hi Frank, Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP19804 is not the correct cartridge for the R10000-UNWS. That cartridge model is for the 1300/1400 prior to the R10000-UNWS. If you need a cartridge for the 1300/1400 series with the R10000-UNWS, please use the RP46074. Thanks. Jody

Is there a way to use a R10000-UNWSHF for a tub and shower installation using some type of diverter valve?

Installation is a large air massage tub with a shower. So we need a high flow spout to fill the tub in a reasonable time but still want to have a shower as well. Presently have the R10000-UNWSHF with T17251-SS H2O trim. Flow goes through the diverter then to either the shower or the tub. Diverter is a Brizo R60700 with a T11851 trim. Does Delta have any set up to provide high flow for the spout for a tub/shower install?
Asked by: Bruce
Hi Bruce, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNWSHF is only designed for use with shower-only applications. For a tub/shower installation, we recommend using a non-high flow (without HF suffix) R10000 valve along with a diverter tub spout, such as RP52148SS. http://www.deltafaucet.com/bath/details/rp52148ss.html TempAssure (17T) series trims will provide approximately 1.5 gpm higher flow rate than the 17 series. http://www.deltafaucet.com/bath/details/t17t451-ss.html Best regards, Jon

Screw stops installed before or after pressure testing?

The instructions (#4 on page 4) seem to suggest pressure testing before installing the stop screws. Screw stops need to be installed BEFORE pressuring testing do they not?
Asked by: PJE
Hi PJE, Thank you for your question. You are correct. The screwdriver stops should be installed before pressure testing the system. Thanks, Dave

What does the "with stops"mean - what are they and what do they do ?

I need to choose between R10000-UNBXHF and R-10000-xxWSxxx version.
Asked by: Dave
Hello Dave, Thanks for your question! The stops are screwdriver stops on the body of the valve. They allow you to turn just the water off to the shower unit by turning the screwdriver stops. They are not necessary, but at a nice feature to have if you need to service a shower unit! I hope this helps!

Hi. I'm looking to purchase the shower head 58680-CZ25, which outputs 2.5 gpm. Would you recommend that I purchase a high flow Delta valve like R10000-UNWSHF? Or would the model R10000-UNWS work just as well?

Asked by: Bob J

I bought the complete package from Supply house a few years back but had to deal with health issues. I am finally to the point where I can turn the valve on and use my new shower. I backed off the two screws but it still seems like water is not flowing?

Asked by: Tool man
Hi Tool man, Thank you for contacting Delta Faucet Company! Please accept our sincere apology for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your Delta Faucet MultiChoice® Universal High-Flow Shower Rough - Universal Inlets / Outlets MODEL#: R10000-UNWSHF. Here is what we can do to resolve your issue for you. Low flow is caused by debris or blockage in the valve, if the stops are fully open. We would recommend flushing the shower valve, I have included instructions below. To flush the open valve without the cartridge, please follow the directions below. 1) Remove the handle by loosening the set screw on the side of the base of the handle. The set screw is either a 1/8" or 3/32" Allen screw. So you will need to use the appropriate size Allen wrench to loosen it. Loosen it just enough to be able to easily pull the handle off. * Note. If there is calcium build-up at the base of the handle, it may be necessary to soak it in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Simply saturate the rag with the 50/50 solution, wrap it around the handle base and place a plastic bag over it. I would recommend do this the night before removing the handle. 2) After removing the handle, remove the trim sleeve. 3) Then you will need to remove the bonnet nut. The bonnet nut is the threaded ring at the valve opening. It unscrews counterclockwise. You will need a pipe wrench or a pair of channel locks. 4) After removing the bonnet nut, you will need to pull the cartridge straight out. You may need a small, skinny bladed screwdriver to wedge in between the lip of the cartridge and the valve to help start it out. 5) Once the cartridge is removed, you will have an open valve body. 6) Next, shut the shower door or curtain and turn the water on to the valve. Water should gush out, much like an open fire hydrant. Have someone observe if there is good water pressure coming out of the valve and let it flush for 30 seconds. 7) Re-install the cartridge and re-assemble in reverse of how it was disassembled. The Tub/Shower should then have a good flow. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to serve you. Please contact us back with any further questions. Best Regards, Nicole

Will this function as a diverter if installing upside down and installing RP73598 1300 Series Non-Pressure Balance Cartridge? The output becomes input, and the hot & cold inputs become separate showerhead outputs. Although not perfect, will this work?

Asked by: David

My installers set this so that the water isn't quite hot enough even against the stop. How do I adjust the mix to get hotter water?

Asked by: ngener
Hi ngener, Thanks so much for contacting Delta Faucet Company! It sounds as though the rotational limit stop may not have been adjusted. The rotational limit stop is used to limit the amount of hot water available such that, if set properly, the user will not be scalded if the handle accidentally is rotated all the way to “hot” when a person is showering or filling a tub. The first position allows the LEAST amount of hot water to mix with the cold water in the system. In the first position, the water will be the coldest possible when the handle is turned all the way to hot. As you move the rotational limit stop counterclockwise, you progressively add more and more hot water in the mix. The last position to the left will result in the greatest amount of hot water to the mix, and the greatest risk of scald injury if someone accidentally turns the valve handle all the way to the hot side while showering or filling a tub. To adjust the temperature of the water coming out of the valve, pull the disc back to a position where it is possible to remove the rotational limit stop and readjust the teeth engagement position to the desired temperature. Clockwise will decrease the outlet temperature, counterclockwise will increase the outlet temperature. Temperature change per tooth (notch) could be 4° - 16°F based on inlet water conditions. Repeat as necessary. Push disc until fully seated. If you would like installation help, you may contact our residential warranty line directly at 800-345-3358 (prompt 2, then 4). What is the difference in flow between High flow and regular flow rough in.

Asked by: RideCo
Hi RideCo, Thank you for your question! The flow rate difference will depend on the trim kit used and the water pressure. A thermostatic trim and higher pressure will increase the difference between the valve options. Comparing R10000-UNWSHF and R10000-UNWS. 14 series trim at 60 psi, the flow rate may be 0.2 gpm higher. 17T series trim at 60 psi, the flow rate may be 1.3 gpm higher.
