Hello,
I am trying to replace the faucet in my tub,
But the brass fitting it screws onto is larger than all of the standard size one's.
When I measure the plastic thread hole in the old one, it measures 1 1/4" (inches)
Asked by: JJWeb
Thank you for your question, JJWeb! RP17453 connects by either sweating onto 1/2" C.W.T. (copper water tube) or threading onto 1/2" IPS (iron pipe size). If your previous tub spout was installed onto another manufacturers adapter, this will need to be removed before using this tub spout.

Does this the 17453 faucet have a matching escutcheon? I have a 1/4" gap between the base of the faucet and the tub that I am trying to cover.
Asked by: Dale
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP17453 does not have a matching escutcheon. However, we do manufacture tub spouts that contain escutcheons that might work for your application. Both Delta Faucet models RP52148 and RP53419 have escutcheons.

How long of a 1/2" pipe stub is needed for the adapter?
The distance from the wall to the end of the 1/2" copper pipe on my bathtub is 1 1/4". Is this long enough to use with the brass adapter that comes with this Delta tub spout? If not, what is the recommended way to install the spout? I looked on-line for detailed installation instructions, but could not find any.
Asked by: AW
Hi AW, Thank you for your question. You will need at a minimum 1-1/2" and preferably 1-3/4" of copper to solder on the adapter. The only other option is if you can solder on a 1/2" copper male adapter keeping your overall length to 1-1/4" at the maximum, 1/2" at the minimum and then threading the tub spout adapter on.

How do you deliming tub spout for pull-down diverter?
How do you deliming tub spout for pull-down diverter? Lime keeps getting built up in spring, is there away to remove and put back spring foe cleaning?
Asked by: epagames
Dear Epagames,
Thank you for your question. We do not recommend disassembling the Delta tub spouts. To dissolve any sediment that may collect in the diverter or face, just soak the face of the tub spout in a 50/50 or stronger mixture of white vinegar and tap water for 10 to 15 minutes.

Here is a photo of the old "stub" that is sweated on to a copper pipe. This is a 25 year old Delta 600 series tub set. I would like to fit a stainless steel tub spout on this without removing and replacing. Open to other spout models in stainless.

Delta Tub Spout Pull Down Diverter, replace it?
The water is not diverting to the shower. I think I have to replace the entire unit. Is there somewhere local to me, within 50 miles of 27248 zip code, where I can find the tub spout? Also does this tub spout come in Brushed Nickel?
Asked by: Hamp
Hi Hamp, Thank you for your question. You should be able to order the RP17453SS from your local Lowes or Home Depot. The RP17453 is not available in the bushed nickel finish. Our (SS) brilliance stainless finish is comparable to other brands brushed nickel.

Does this replace an old 600 series pull down faucet without altering the copper plumbing?
"W e are replacing our tub fixtures to nickel or stainless (Delta 600 series). Our current pull down diverter faucet is 6" long, and looks like the drawing. When the spout is removed, the copper pipe comes out 3" with an o ring on the end. The screw fixture is about 1" from the wall. Will this spout fit directly on the current copper pipe as described, i.e. is this a direct oem replacement for the old spout or will it require changeing the copper pipe.
Asked by: Mike
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP17453NN can be used on your current pipe. You should be able to remove the adapter from your new tub spout and screw it onto where the old one was placed.

The pipe is 3 inches, the whole pipe is threaded which is rare. I have a hard time finding a fit, the old faucet was a delta that looks like a slip on design but somehow also fit this pipe by keep twisting it in. Can this fit?
Asked by: Nicole
Hi, Nicole!
Thank you for your question. The Delta RP17453 Tub Spout Assembly is designed to sweat onto a smooth copper pipe extending 2 - 4" from the finished wall, or thread onto a 1/2" IPS nipple extending 5/8 - 1 5/8" from the finished wall. Our Delta RP5836 Tub Spout does slip on to a 1/2" C.W.T. Here is a link to this option:

Pull down diverter tub spout Stainless Steel
I am remodeling a bath in my house. I really like the pull down diverter. I am interested in SS finish and a Metal product. How ever while researching the SS only seems to be available in part RP17453 which is non-metallic(plastic), Do you have available a RP17454 is metal in the SS finish?
Really not looking for plastic spout. Thanks
Asked by: LCW
Hi LCW, Thank you for your question!
We do not manufacture the RP17454 pull down tub spout in the Stainless Steel finish. We do offer pull up diverter models that are metal in the Stainless finish such as the RP48718SS and RP64721SS.

Asked by: Calvin Evanoff

Unfortunately we do not have a replacement spout in the oil rubbed bronze finish with an RP12307 adapter. We do have an alternate tub spout in Venetian Bronze which is similar that works with the RP12307 adapter. The model number is RP34357RB. http://www.deltafaucet.com/bath/details/rp34357rb.html?showPhotoGallery=false

Can I use RP17453 to replace a spout?
I have a 3-3/4" threaded iron nipple. Will I be able to install this RP17453 without cutting the pipe? If not what other Delta spout can I use instead? Thanks.
Asked by: Art
Hi Art, Thank you for your question. The adapter used on the RP17453 tub spout requires that the pipe nipple extend beyond the finished wall between 5/8" to 1-5/8". Our tub spouts like the model RP63157 that the nipple threads into the nose of the spout require 3-7/8" to 4" of pipe from the finished wall.
Thanks,
Dave

I'm installing a new RP17453 (plastic) tub spout to replace our 16-year old one that just started leaking. Is it necessary to use teflon tape before screwing the plastic threaded part onto our copper pipe? Instructions don't say, but our old one didn't.

Hello Lori,
Thank you for your inquiry! The Delta Pull-Down Diverter Tub spout RP17453 does not need any putty or tape with installing it on the brass adapter/pipe.

Can I replace the spout by itself or do i have to replace the entire set?
I laid the toilet brush across my tub spout to dry out and it has tarnished the finish (see photos). My landlord says the spout, handle and shower head all have to be replaced and a plumber has to do it. I think the spout should be relatively simple to replace. Can I just purchase a replacement spout and install it without having to go into the entire shower set-up? Or, is there a product I can purchase that will clean the tarnish/discoloration and return it to "normal"? As you can see from the photos, the water is hard and the fixtures are already spotted with mineral deposits. Help! Please?!!! Thank you sooo much!
Asked by: Amanda
Thank you for your questions. We would recommend replacing just the tub spout. Delta Faucet part #RP17453 can be purchased and installed (instructions are included with the packaging).

Asked by: Rob
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet part # RP17454 and Delta Faucet part # RP17453 are interchangeable. The difference between the two is that RP17454 is metal and RP17453 is non-metallic. It is a personal preference for the consumer to pick one.

I have a 1" threaded female adapter that is sodered onto the normal 1/2" threaded copper pipe coming from the wall. I am looking for an easy fix...
From my research I have found that the delta 17453 may work with the included adapter. It sounds like the adapter that comes with this is like the one that is sodered onto my existing pipe.
Does this adapter easily come off of the 17453 spout so I can just thread in the 17453 onto my existing 1" adapter?
Asked by: Chris
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your question! This tub spout comes with the RP12307 adapter. If you already have this adapter installed, simply unscrew the included adapter and screw on the spout.

Is this faucet only for shower purposes or can I also take a bath? If so how to I stop the tub?
Asked by: Kayy
Thank you for question, Kayy! This diverting tub spout can be used in a tub and shower installation. The diverter on the tub spout pulls down to direct the water to the shower head. You will need to refer to the manufacture of your tub however the drain is typically a standard size and should work with our bath waste assembly RP393.

A majority of our tub spouts will fit the RP12307 adapter. The basic ones are the RP17453 and RP5834. Below is a link to browse our tub spouts.
