Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go with the OEM part I bought this hoping it was an OEM part, and it appears to be. Reviews of aftermarket diverter cartridges indicated they didn't fit as well as an original Delta... this one fit perfectly. Two months later it is working fine.

how do you remove the diverter assembly

Asked by: gryfox64
Hi gryfox64, Thank you for your question. To remove the diverter, first remove the handle, then unscrew the metal sleeve. You can then pull the extender and diverter straight out. The handle may have a set screw (usually 3/32" Allen) in the side or a Phillips screw in the top, which may be covered by a cap. Best regards, Jon

When changing the Delta RP17730 diverted valve on a three handled shower valve body, I noticed there are no seats or springs in the valve body?

Asked by: Larry
Dear Larry, Thank you for your inquiry! There not suppose to be any seats and springs in the valve behind the diverter of a Delta three handle shower unit. The seats and spring would only be installed in the back of the hot and cold water valves. https://media.deltafaucet.com/PartsDiagram/2653_2683_2861_2871__32922_Rev_C.pdf Best regards, Tanya

What is the proper orientation of the valve? In other words which way do you install? Where should the pad or stopper sit when you install?

Asked by: wvuman
Hi wvuman, Thank you for your question! The diverter should be installed with the tan seal face down. Best regards, Jon

After replacing the diverter, when turning the handle to change from tub to shower or vice versa, it doesn't turn as freely as before. Is there something I can do to make it turn easier?

Asked by: dmerritt
I had the same problem. The new diverter was difficult to insert and would not turn-in fact I broke the one Delta sent and had to get another at H.D. I had to CAREFULLY sand the plastic protrusions opposite the tan pad on the diverter to reduce their height. These protrusions are what is preventing the diverter from turning freely in the valve body. Sand a little at a time and check for fit often. You don't need to remove much. They are meant to keep pressure on the tan pad but are too tall and get jammed. Now my diverter works and turns freely.
