Rated 5 out of 5 by from Go with the OEM part I bought this hoping it was an OEM part, and it appears to be. Reviews of aftermarket diverter cartridges indicated they didn't fit as well as an original Delta... this one fit perfectly. Two months later it is working fine.

Q&A

Do I need to shut off the water to replace the 17730 diverter assembly on a 3-valve shower?

Asked by: KG_DC
Hi KG_DC, Thank you for your question. We do recommend to shut off the water supply when changing parts. However, no water is running to the diverter until the faucet is turned on, so it is not required. Best regards, Jon

is # RP17730 the correct diverter for # Model #2683

Asked by: scott
Hi Scott, Thank you for your question! If your 3 handle faucet is a Delta product and it was manufactured before 1990, then the RP21598 and RP10799 diverter assemblies will fit the valve body. If your 3 handle faucet is a Delta product and it was manufactured after 1990, then the RP17730 diverter assembly will fit the valve body. If you are installing the correct diverter assembly and your faucet is still not functioning properly, then the valve body itself may be damaged and it will need to be replaced. Best regards, Brandis

Installed this diverter in our bathroom but now water will spurt into the handle when it is turned. Water continues to slowly drip into the handle intermittently while in operation. Any idea why?

Asked by: Rabbit
Hello Rabbit, Thank you for your question! I am sorry that you are experiencing these concerns from your Delta Faucet Diverter Assembly, model RP17730; however, I am happy to help you. The most common cause of a low flow rate is debris. The best way to clear any debris is to flush the supply lines. To do this, turn off the water supplies, remove the cartridge, and turn the supplies back on for one minute. Please make sure that you are getting good flow through both the hot and cold sides while flushing. You can also shake the cartridge back and forth to make sure the back half of the cartridge rattles. This means that the pressure-balancing spool is moving freely, as it should. If it does not, you can try soaking the cartridge in white vinegar for about 15-30 minutes. Please contact us with any questions or for further assistance. Thank you for being a loyal Delta Faucet customer. Best Regards, Emma

Has the person who designed this been fired yet? The instructions (when I found them) inside the cardboard backer, were useless. They do not give you the proper orientation. The diverter takes immense torque to turn, and even then, does nothing.
