There is a grey plastic "piece" up in the spout end of the tub faucet. It looks to be some sort of cap that might be there for shipping? Should this piece be removed? if so, then how?

Does this spout come with the adapter assembly? I have a 1/2” copper male adapter sticking out about 1” right now I need to thread onto
