is this spout compatible with a chrome spout installed in1996

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP75435BL-R.
A compatible replacement tub spout will depend on how the tub spout is installed to the pipe.
This tub spout uses the included RP12307 adapter for 1/2 inch copper sweat or 1/2 inch threaded connection.
If you already have a similar metal adapter from a Delta tub spout on the pipe, this spout should fit the adapter.
