How do you remove the “ beauty ring” of the back plate?

How do you tighten the face plate of the tub/shower faucet?

Our Delta model T14476 has a smaller circle beauty ring, sitting inside the large escutcheon plate. This place is slide into place, If you remove that ring it will reveal 2 screws which tighten the plate.

I am trying to install the trim ring. It has a gray foam ring around the inside. Is that supposed to stay on? Or should I remove it.

I used the tub spout diverted to use the shower function. Now when I run a bath, the diverter has not fully changed to the normal flow through the tub faucet. The handle is fully down, but the water sprays out like the diverter is stuck. How can I fix?

How do you remove the escutcheon plate? There are no screws, just a dimple at the base of it where it meets the bonnet nut, which seems to be the only hint as to how it's removed, but I've poked and pried at it a bit, but nothing seems to give or loosen.

The trim ring is installed by pressing the ring into the escutcheon. It is held in place by an o-ring. We recommend soaking the area with 50/50 white vinegar and water, then rinsing, to remove any buildup of mineral deposits. A wet rag is a good way to soak parts that are still installed.
