I went ahead and installed the T17089-PR trim with the PR29827 cover plate and fits perfectly.

Hi Valued Customer, Thank you for contacting Delta Faucet Company! No, the older 1300 series valves are not compatible with our newer 1700 series trims. You can use our current 1300/1400 series tub/shower trims, however, the new cartridges that are included are not compatible with the older valves. The RP19804 will need to be purchased separately. Hello sscsonia, Thank you for reaching out to Delta Faucet Company! To adjust your 1700 series temperature for hotter water, please follow the instructions below. You shouldn't need to shut your water off but keep in mind it is still possible for the water to turn on if the stem is rotated. You will need allen wrenches. 1. Remove the button under the temperature cap. You will then see a set screw that will also need to be removed. 2. Once this piece is removed, you will see a brass stem with splines. Remove the screw and the spline revealing the black "cog" piece. This is your Rotational Limit Stop and allows you to rotate it for your preferred temperature. 3. Please note If the max temperature is not achieved before the limit stop on the temperature knob meets the limit stop on the volume control handle: Remove the temperature control knob from the splines. Rotate the temperature control knob clockwise. Place the temperature control knob back onto the splines and continue to rotate counter-clockwise until the maximum desired temperature is achieved. Remove the temperature knob and place it back onto the splines, making sure that the temperature knob limit stop hits against the volume handle limit stop *Please note there is a limit of how far this will rotate, if you rotate to the hottest setting it will be the same temperature as your water heater. This is not recommended as it can cause scalding. (not more than 120° or the lower temperature mandated by your local plumbing code) You have rotated your temperature to receive hotter water! Turn your water on and see if this is your desired temperature. Please rotate the showerhead away from you so you do not get scalded while testing this. We appreciate your inquiry.
