I have Jacuzzi stand alone tub, (fiberglass) want to use the Trinsic Collection, T2759-RB, what valve option? works best to mount?

Hi, I purchased this faucet to replace a preexisting Koehler roman tub faucet and my husband and I cannot for the life of us, install it correctly.  We are having the most trouble with the spout.  please help! I love this faucet and want it to work!

Can this trim be used on an existing older Delta rough-in valve setup from a Garden / Classic tub filler (2705)?
