how many inches over the edge of the tub should this faucet be?

Ideally the spout aerator should match where the tub drain is. From the center of the valve to the center of the aerator is 8" inches.

Is it possible to get a tub filler compatible with the R4700-FL rough in valve shorter than 40 inches? or can these be shortened at all? 40 inches is too tall for the tub that is only 26 inches high.

The handle is leaking. Does the whole unit need to be replaced? When the tub is being filled, water leaks out of the handle. Can I just replace the handle?

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet T4754-SSFL.
For a leak from the tub filler handle, the RP73598 cartridge may need to be replaced. Hand-tightening the bonnet nut under the handle may help, but there may be an issue with the o-ring seal on the cartridge.

I have the Trinsic T4759-FL. Do I need a mixing valve to support installation? How does the hot and cold water attach to the tub filler? It did not come with any installation instructions. Thanks, Mike
