Once installed by our plumber this elbow piece/shower arm was leaking down the shower hose. Plumber indicated the leak was caused by an extremely thin washer that came with the pieces. He was able to correct the leak by using a thicker washer from his own tools.

Very poorly made
Garbage. Delta certainly isn't what they were in the 80's. Ours broke at the threads after 4 years. The material is about 1/16th thick of some alloy- junk.
Definitely not every using Delta again.

DOES THE SHOWER ARM COME LONGER THAN 6 INCHES
Thank you for your question, BOB B! Yes, the RP40593RB shower arm is 7" long, and can be used with the U4993-RB flange. However, the only shower arm that comes included with a flange, is the RP6023RB 6" shower arm that comes with this model.

I want to put short extension on a U4993 shower arm and need to know the proper thread size to buy for a coupler. The product features page says the threads are 1/2 inch IPS and the spec sheet says they are 1/2 inch NPT. Which one is correct?

Our Delta Faucet UNIVERSAL SHOWERING Shower Arm & Flange MODEL#: U4993-SS has 1/2" (12.7 mm) IPS male threads which refer to the threads that connect to a shower component. The 1/2-14 NPT threads refer to the threading to the connection from the shower arm to the water line in the wall.

Is there any reason that this arm cannot be mounted on the ceiling?

I will be happy to help! You can install this shower arm on the ceiling. However, there is a curve to it that will cause an angle of the water flow from the showerhead to spray against the wall. Please contact us directly if further assistance is needed at this time.

Hi. Does this item work with the 2-in-1 showerhead 58620-PR-PK? In the documentation for that showerhead, it mentions RP40593 as a replacement part (the 7-inch shower arm). But I am wondering if this shorter shower arm would work/be compatible as well.

What is the difference between the brushed nickel and stainless steel color? Some of the products don’t have the option for the nickel finish.
