Rated 3 out of 5 by from Universal, schmooniversal What's "universal" about this? I can only find one shower set up that works with it! Unfortunately, it's already installed in my new shower, behind some nice new tile, and the one shower kit that works, even though it's a Delta, looks like it belongs in a Minecraft World, it's so square shaped. My bad, I guess, for taking the universal part seriously.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Major flow restriction This rough-in "Delta R22000-WS" with the service stops has a huge flow restriction in both the hot and cold inlets. although this rough-in can accept 1/2 pipe connections there is a restriction in the inlet that is at best 1/4" round hole causing a serious restriction and pressure issue at the shower head. I was hesitant to install it but after being reassured that it would be fine, I went ahead. Unfortunately, as I suspected the pressure at the shower head is bearable until I try to use the shower head and body spray at the same time. Very disappointing flow rate. My supply pressure to the rough-in is 60PSI but it's not enough to overcome the built-in restriction that's in the rough-in body. I now have to tear down my brand-new tile shower encloser and replace the rough-in. I need to know if the Delta R22000 has the same flow restriction as the Delta R22000-WS?

In the specsheet for this valve, it says "not recommended of tub application. No tub outlet".

I need the valve to operate tub spout, Handheld shower, wall shower (all the three independently). Also, handheld shower and wall shower to be operated simultaneously. In the specsheet, it says "Not recommended for tub outlet. No tub outlet". Does this mean I cannot use this valve if I need to operate tub spout and showers? If yes, what is the alternative?
Asked by: amateurplumber
Hi amateurplumber, Thank you for your question. This valve is not designed to be used with a tub spout. However, you may connect a non-diverter tub spout to one of the diverter ports as a temperature tester. Since the flow rate from the spout would be lower than a standard installation, we do not recommended to use it as a tub filler. Alternatively, you can install an R10000 and R11000 valve with corresponding trim kits. The tub spout should be connected to the bottom port of an R10000 valve to provide sufficient flow to fill a tub. https://www.deltafaucet.com/search-results?searchTerm=r10000%2C+r11000 Best regards, Jon

What is the recommend pipe size and water pressure for this diverter ?

Asked by: pat
Dear Pat, Thank you for your question. The Delta MultiChoice R22000-WS valve, is a universal type fitting and is 1/2" NPT male thread with 1/2" C.W.T. female sweat. It sweats onto 1/2" C.W.T. or accepts 1/2" iron pipe, PEX or CPVC adapters. The flow rate at 80 PSI is between 5.6 gpm and 7.4 gpm depending on the series of trim/cartridge used. https://media.deltafaucet.com/SpecSheet/DSP-B-R22000%20Rev%20B.pdf Best regards, Tanya

Asked by: Dave
Thank you for your question, Dave! This trim will allow you to use all three ports of the diverter valve. You will also need the RP71718 Non-Shared Diverter Cartridge if you wish to eliminate the shared settings. The non-shared cartridge is sold separately. Best regards, Jon

Does this shower work with an instant hot water heater?

Asked by: sole
Hello Sole, Thanks for your question. It may take a moment for the heated water to reach the valve and clear out any cooled water from the shower pipe. Also, a tankless water heater may not begin heating the water at low volumes, requiring more of the hot supply to be mixed in before the water gets hot. Please check with the manufacturer if the heater needs to be adjusted to activate at lower flow rates. If you have an on-demand or tankless water heater, it may need to be adjusted so that it activates with less flow. We also recommend lowering the temperature of the hot water in your home if it is above 120 degrees. Best regards, Tanya

Hand held sprayer and over head spout at same time
Asked by: Bobby
Hi Bobby, Thank you for your question! This will depend on the diverter cartridge that you use. The 3 or 6 function cartridge included with the trim kit will allow you to use both together or individually. Some local or state plumbing codes require non-shared diverter cartridges, which are available separately. Best regards, Jon
