I just want to make sure the sleeve will screw on to hold the stem in place

Thank you for your question. The sleeves are threaded internally and will hold the stem, diverter, and extenders in place for a 2600 series tub/shower faucet.

will this kit fit a old set, maybe 40 yrs old. looks like mine but there are no threads on the outside of mine for the ring

do you chalk the escutcheon to the wall to seal it ?

Thank you for your question. The escutcheons have a gasket that will help keep water out. However, you may use a thin bead of clear silicone to help provide a water-tight seal.

I would like to know the outer dimension, and the inner dimension.

What cartridge is compatible for this product?

A three-handle faucet would use RP1740 stems and RP4993 seats and springs. See here for more information:
