PRODUCT FEATURES
Single-function valve cartridge controls the temperature at full output flow. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta® tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. The handle limit stop's integrated design allows easy adjustment via pull and turn. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap.
This cartridge is included with tub and shower trim packages.
*Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. May require seasonal adjustments.

Drip drip drip
Showerhead started dripping less than 2 years after getting it installed. I won't be buying Delta ever again. I had an extra model from a recent home remodel, so I figured I would just take the assembly from it and use it. Even after flushing everything out, ensuring everything is clean, and installing another cartridge, the leak started again shortly thereafter. There's no way I'm spending $100 for yet another cartridge.

Bad design period
This is the poorest designed shower valve on the market today, I will never buy another shower kit from delta again. this is valve number five replacment, I am to the point of removing the drywall and redoing my shower to never see this worthless valve again, Delta was ZERO help on replacement but happy to charge me 95 dollars for a replacement each time for my permanently disabled veteran father, all good delta...appreciate you and hope your CEO enjoys his yacht today while im trying to fix your junk you wont stand behind.

Poor customer service and cartridge.
I redid the three showers in our house less than two years ago. I had Delta products installed by a contractor because I thought the quality was superior and they are suposed to have excellent customer service. Now one of the facets is leaking. I couldn't be more disapointed in my call to their customer support group. She didn't even ask me about the facet or the replacement part. She simply said, "we don't replace cartridges". I'm sad that Delta didn't stand behind their product and provided such curt customer support. She didn't even offer to have me purchase a new cartridge from them.

Leaked after 2 years
Horrible and plastic. Our contractor installed the Delta R1000 that comes with this cartridge in 2024. We redid the shower so we could get a wheelchair into it. It started leaking in May 2025 and I don’t have a receipt. Lucky me, get to spend $100 to replace a lifetime warranty. Don’t recommend due to cheap materials and poor service

Now every single one of the Delta showers (4) I put in my houses are leaking after only a year or two.

I have an old delta shower trim 19804 and want to install a new set with 46074...will this work or do I need a conversion kit Or??

Thank you for your question. As long as the screw holes on your large round escutcheon plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions and you do not have a push button shower diverter directly below the off and on handle, then any of our trim kits that start with a T13 or a T14 will interchange for you. The cartridges (RP46074) that come with the new trim kits will not fit your valve body, so you will need to reuse your existing cartridge (RP19804).

Does the cartridge have hit water temperature settings?

Thank you for your question. The valve cartridge assembly does have a rotational limit stop that can be adjusted so that your water can become hotter. You will want to remove the set screw from the handle with a 1/8" allen wrench. Once the handle is removed you will be able to see the rotational limit stop on the front of the cartridge. To adjust the rotational limit stop:
1. Pull out the inner, off-white circle. It maybe quite stiff.
2. When pulled out far enough, the circle will turn. Left (counterclockwise=hotter, right (clockwise)=colder.
3.Release the circle once it's at the desired temperature.
4. Test the temperature, adjust the rotational limit stop as needed.

Replacement of Delta classic shower glass knob
Is there a different single control handle or lever available to replace the classic glass single control knob, without taking the valve out?

Thank you for your question. If you have a 14 or 1400 series unit, the clear knob handle can be replaced with any H7_ handle assembly.

Extension for brass control connection to plastic on/off handle
The contractor installed cartridge assembly without consideration of shower enclosure offset. Now I need to see if I can get an 1.5 to 2 inch.extension to the brass control key or another alternative to connect to on/off temperature control handle..
Ideas?

Thank you for question. Unfortunately, Delta Faucet does not manufacture an extension kit like the one you are describing. The only way to solve this is to move the valve out farther so that everything fits.

I just purchased/installed a replacement RP46074 for my Delta shower faucet and after I turn the shower off, I continue to get an occasional drip from the shower head. Is there any adjustment I can make to stop this unwanted dripping?

I apologize for the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to help you.
We recommend performing a flush of the valve first. To do this, first turn the water off via home shut-off valve. Next, you will remove the handle with a 3/32" Allen wrench. With the handle removed you can then remove the decorative trim sleeve allowing you to unthread the bonnet nut locking the cartridge in the valve. Remove the cartridge and turn the water back on at the valve allowing water to flush any sediment or debris for at least 30 seconds. Reinstall the components and ensure there is no more leaking. If the drip persists you should replace the RP4993 seats and springs in the middle of the cartridge. The cartridge will twist apart at the center and the seats and springs are located at the top of the "legs".

i would like to know about the warranty 13/14 Series because i have to replace my Cartridge?

All parts and finishes of the Delta faucet are warranted to the original consumer purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for as long as the original consumer purchaser owns their home. Delta recommends using a professional plumber for all installation and repair.
Delta will replace, FREE OF CHARGE, during the warranty period, any part or finish that proves defective in material and/or workmanship under normal installation, use and service.

Water has stopped coming out of the faucet & shower, just a trickle.
I assumed it was the cartridge so I replaced it with a new one (RP46074) & still nothing comes out but when I remove the cartridge (with the water off) there is a lot of water backed up behind the cartridge that comes out. Is is likely that I got hold of a bad cartridge? Do you have any ideas what I should look at next?
Hi Jim, Thank you for your question. I have attached a how to flush the lines on your tub/shower faucet video below. Flushing the lines should insure that there is no debris clogging the cartridge. Make sure both the hot and cold water supplies are turned on when testing the faucet.

Thank you for your question. Delta does manufacture the RP73598 Valve Cartridge Assembly, which is ceramic and can be ordered for any of our Floor Mount Tub Filler Trim to increase the flow rate. This is a non-pressure balance cartridge that replaces the RP46074 in our Floor Mount Tub Filler Trims only, and is not intended for use in our Delta Universal MultiChoice R10000 Rough In Shower Valve Body.

Will the RP46074 work with trim T14053 and allow for both volume and temperature control with just the single handle?
Thank you for your question, Robert! The RP46074 cartridge is included with the T14053. The faucet runs at a constant flow rate after rotating the handle counter-clockwise from the off position at 3 o'clock. Cold water will flow first and the temperature will increase the further you turn it. A volume control such as the U4760-PK can be purchased separately if you wish to have volume control at warm temperatures.

I purchased the Flynn design bath/shower faucet/shower unit with the hope that water pressure could be controlled. My contractor installed the unit and we found out that water pressure can NOT be controlled. What similar unit does allow pressure control?

How do I get tub and shower volume control on 13 series?
I just purchased and installed the Delta T13420-PBSHCCER Classic Monitor 13 Series Tub and Shower Trim Package. Once installed, I discovered there is no volume control, which just won't work for me. Is there a way to retrofit this item with a volume control cartridge? If not, can you tell me which item (with volume control) best matches my current item in appearance and function?

How to install
Thank you for your question, ELIZABETH! The water will first need turned off the unit or home. Then you will need to remove the handle set screw with an allen wrench. Next, unscrew the bonnet nut and pull off the sleeve assembly. The cartridge will then pull straight out. It is always recommended to flush the valve out at this point by slowly turning the water back on to the unit for about a minute. The new cartridge can then be inserted however take note of the "H" marking on the side of the cartridge as this should be placed on the Hot side which is typically on the left. i have the 13/14 series multichoice valve installation kit. It has a water temp limiter setup on it-however the main trim plate has a large H and C area - but the handle only turns 1/4 turn. Why is the trim plate set for hot/cold when the valve is not?

Thank you for your inquiry! Our cartridges include a Rotational Limit Stop that limits the amount of hot water allowed to mix into the valve and needs to be set at the time of installation. Information on adjusting this setting can be found on Step 3, Page 7 of the Maintenance and Installation manual below.

I purchased this faucet and I'm very disappointed that water pressure can NOT be controlled!! I had called Delta before making my purchase at Lowe's here in Denver and could not get confirmation that water pressure is controllable with this unit.
PLEASE reply with a bath/shower unit that is similar to the Flynn and DOES allow water pressure control! I'd like to return and replace my purchased faucet as soon as possible.

Will this RP46074 replace the one I have with the grey disc on top?
As I understand it, the RP46074 cartridge was/is constructed two different ways: 1) has a green round disc on top with a protruded grey (trianglish) stop for the temperature limit; 2) has this white round disk that can be dialed for the temperature limit.
I have a Series 13 (with the grey disc on top) that needs a new cartridge. [I use it in an outdoor shower and we had a surprise early two day freeze!] This is the part number in the manual that came with the shower...it just looks different.
Will this cartridge replace the one I have just the top will work differently? Thank you....
