It is held onto the splines by friction. You can hand tighten the cartridge, then turning it a 1/4 turn with a adjustable wrench. Feel free to contact us directly, if you need further assistance. After many hours of trying to remove the handle to replace the valve cartridge, we finally talked to customer support and Doug (EXTREMELY GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!), actually took the time to go find the product, assembled and disassembled it himself and gave us the solution! The solution: Unscrew the “stem” (the skinny part you use to turn the handle) of the faucet handle. Inside the hole it leaves, there is a set screw which can be loosened with an allen wrench. With it loosened, the entire faucet handle  easily slides off and exposes the valve cartridge. Use a phillips screwdriver to remove the screw in front of the valve cartridge and then use a deep well socket to remove the valve cartridge. Assemble in reverse order making sure to line up handles with valve in closed position before pushing handle into place.

Once the handle is removed, remove the screw and base with a Philip's screwdriver. The valve cartridge assembly can then be pulled straight out and a new one can be reinstalled.
