Excellent Replacement Faucet
Bought to replace an American-Standard kitchen faucet which was plagued with O-ring issues that finally gave out and sprayed water to the ceiling. We found this faucet at Home Depot and installation was a breeze. Because of the hard water in New Orleans, water spots were always present and eventually diminished the chrome finish. This DELTA looks great and and keeps a great looking appearance despite the hard tap water. I will however, coat the threaded hardware with a water-repelling grease to prevent the chlorine from seizing the threads. After all, one day the hot and cold valves will have to be replaced.

Reliable
Decided to replace my 26 year old white steel kitchen sink with a new stainless one. Opted to just buy a new faucet as well, which was same model I had on my own sink. I've had the old faucet for at least 5 years now (can't remember) but have never had a problem with the old faucet. We do have hard well water going to our kitchen, and it usually affects something over time. I have no idea how long the washerless "cartridge" design is supposed to last, but I hate dealing with leaking faucets, and I don't want to worry about it for another 5-10 years. My wife likes the two handled faucets, and the price was right at Home Depot, so no regrets.

install was an easy DIY you will need a pair of channel locks to losen up the "nuts " that hold the hot ,cold and sprayer in place .Looks great installed and now we have more space to fill water pitchers and large pots for pasta

Kitchen faucet
I bought this faucet to replace the one that was in the house when I purchased it. It was also a delta faucet but I could not find that model. The old one was leaking ot the sprayer nozzle hookup at the bottom of faucet. I like delta faucets because they are easy to install.

Sprayer leaks out of the side
The sprayer failed almost immediately after installation. It spays out of a defect in the side of the sprayer head. This leak also makes the faucet act like it has water hammer. The faucet works well, but the sprayer is very cheaply made.

Low water pressure
I've had the exact same experience as Idtmatski's review below. My old faucet had good water pressure and my newly installed Delta 21988LF-SS has very low water pressure. This will not work for me. I don't know if I can return it to Home Depot or not, but either way it's a major inconvenience (I live 1 1/2 hours from the store), and potentially a total loss of $$. Why would I take a chance on a Delta faucet next time?

Water Pressure
The water seems to come out really slow. The sprayer doesn't work at all unless you hold the handle on and turn on both the cold and hot water fully at the same time. To fill a pot with water it takes a very long time. I took out the screen that I thought was the water saver at the tip of the facet but that didn't help. Am wondering if there is another water saver that can be removed or if maybe this facet is defective. The old facet that we removed worked fine until it started leaking and wasn't repairable. Any suggestions?

Weak handles
Easy to install, but the hot and cold handles seem very loose when you turn them. With little kids using it, I feel that it won’t be long until they break off.

questionable: THE FAUCET?
This faucet was installed by licensed plumbers. We are on city water. The faucet will discharge water periodically thru the night with both handles in the off position. Sometimes the sprayer will not work.

Excellent support from Delta!
Have had this kitchen faucet set for a couple of years now. Had the spray button to start leaking, and yes running down the hose inside the sink cabinet. No damage because my wife noticed it quickly, and the vinyl shelf paper on the bottom of the cabinet protected yhe wood.
Contacted Delta, got a new unit sent out the next day. It just came in a few days later. and already.swapped out. Everything is great again.
Hoping Delta Engineering is improving the seal longevity on the new sprayer buttons!

Quick Connect is awful
We purchased and installed this faucet a few weeks ago. The "quick connect" for the sprayer is a horrible design! First, it's cheap plastic and when we went to disconnect the sprayer so we could install a filter system, the quick connect broke. Then we found out that Delta doesn't appear to make a plug so you can bypass the sprayer! Because of their unique and funky design (no threads, etc), you can't just buy a plug and put it on. So now we either have to replace the sprayer (more $$$) and not have a filter system or replace the whole brand-new faucet with a new one. No one sells the plug, and the plumbing suppliers who said they had one sent a part that did NOT fit. Delta, what are you going to do to fix this situation?

High faucet
We have this faucet in the kitchen now for about three weeks. The wife love that the faucet is higher than our old one. This makes it easier to fill large pots and bowls.
The only downside, the faucet thumps a couple of times when you turn it on. You can see the arch jump a bit. Is there a max pressure that this faucet requires?

Handle screw/bolt part number for 21988LF faucet
My handle broke and I need the part number for the brass bolt with one end threaded and the other end splined with the chrome finish knob/end attached. I was able to get the threaded part out of the handle base so just need the bolt.
It looks like part RP26852 which is 3.05 inches long and mine is more like 2.5 inches, end to end. Thanks Tim
Hi Tim, Thank you for your question. The spindle and finial for the RP42995 handles on the model 21988LF faucet is not available as a separate item. The entire handle assembly would have to be replaced.

Model # 21988LF. The base is leaking. What repair kit do I need? Is there a video I can watch to help me repair.

Can the faucet and handles be installed directly on the sink without the base?

Thank you for you installation inquiry. The escutcheon/base plate of the Delta Foundations Kitchen 21988LF faucet is apart of the full faucet valve, it is not removable.

I did not out the sprayer holder on.How do I remove the snap on connection to the water supply to put the sprayer hose through the holder?
Reach up at the very top of the connection and squeeze the two tabs together and gently pull down on the hose. They only move about .05" inward, but it will release.

How come I can't buy a replacement spout for this faucet?
I tried to mount a PUR water filter on it using the correct adapter, but no matter how much plumber's tape I put on or how tight I tried to make it, the connection always leaked. I decided to remove it and just use the sink normally, but I damaged the end of the spout removing the adapter. I like the faucet and don't want to have to buy an entirely new one just for the spout as the spout is really well designed for a quick disconnect. It appears that no one sells the spout separately and I'm not sure why. Can I get a replacement spout from you?

Why don't you print on your box that this is made out of plastic and not chrome? I was very upset when I found this out - after it had been installed.
Hi Treetracker, Thank you for your question. The model 21988LF is a metal faucet. The spout, handles, escutcheon base and valve body are metal. The side sprayer and mount are plastic components.

Thick deck extension?
Is there a thick deck extension for this faucet? I can find a lot of other Delta faucet deck extension but none for this model. Will a extension kit for another model work? I only need to extend the hot and cold connections a small amount.
Thank you for your inquiry, Tim! Delta does not manufacture a thick deck mounting kit for the Foundations Kitchen 21988LF faucet. This faucet requires a maximum deck thickness of 1 5/16" (33mm).
