water all over counter
I bought the air gap and cover to replace one that the builder had literally left under the sink. I have run the dishwasher 2x's and each time, water bubbles out of the air gap onto my counters.... The plumbers were out today to make sure that no lines were clogged: they weren't. They disconnected and reconnected the lines: tested it again....water all over the counters. There is a flaw in the design of the plastic air gap...have to go to a plumbing store to get a new plastic air gap... (The cover is fine..so far.)

Amazon sends unbranded boxes
The only place I could find to buy the "SS" color to match the faucet finish we want was amazon. Ordered 2 (we're getting 2 dishwashers!), and received two boxes from them, neither identifies as being a "Delta" product as the description indicated. Not sure where else to find them as none of the authorized dealers carry this finish. Can't order them from here because Delta doesn't personally sell their own products. Disappointed my faucet I was so excited to get back (I had a Touch2O at my last house that I sold) might have to go back for a brand that offers matching code required accessories :(

Quality Air Gap
This is a quality air gap from Delta. It's much better than the cheap ones you'd buy at the home improvement stores. The Delta air gap has thicker metal and better looking chrome than the others. The trick to installing this is to set the plastic mounting assembly at the correct height- if it's set too high then the chrome cap won't cover it entirely. When you've got it set just right the chrome cap comes all the way down to sit right on the sink surface.

The metal part is great. The problem was with the female threads on the plastic wye. It was to loose of a fit on the male. My fix was to use the old nut. End of problem.

Works, but is too flimsy
Purchased this air gap kit to bring my dishwasher installation up to code. While it serves the purpose, its construction is so flimsy that any side load from attached hoses makes it nearly impossible to install straight. I had to modify the larger drain line to include hard tubing so as to reduce hose force on this item to be able to install it.

This is junk
The stainless cover looks good. The PVC vent underneath is another issue. The PVC nut that holds the vent in place is not strong enough plastic, or the threads are not cut deep enough. The nut just stripped out with a minimal amount of force applied. I tightened it by hand, and just the weight of the dishwasher drain hose (small side-ways pull) was enough to push the nut down stripping the threads. I could not use any of the PVC parts. Don't waist your money on this.

Delta 72020SS - High price for thin plastic
This product has a great SS cap that matched my Delta 172SSWF faucet perfectly. However, the plastic under the SS cap is extremely flimsy and bends out of shape easily during install. I ended up using the plastic body of my old Delta air gap (*much* thicker plastic) since it matched identically this one (except for the thickness of plastic) and the SS cap from this one. For the price, Delta should have used a much thicker plastic.

I am looking at 599-SSMPU-DST versus the 699-SS-DST faucets for undermount sinks in the bathroom. Do you recommend one over the other in this application?
Thank you for your question, Kaybob! The model 699-SS-DST has a taller spout and is designed for vessel sinks. It also does not include a pop-up drain assembly. If you do not have a vessel sink, the 599-SSMPU-DST would be recommended but it depends on your personal preference as either could be used.

Is the air gap necessary when installing an RO unit?

How do I clean my Delta air gap? Water seeps out of the hole onto the counter. I can't figure out what to remove to run a bottle brush down the tube to clear it. Thanks.

Thank you for your inquiry! The Delta Air Gap 72020 cover/top pulls straight off and there is a nut and then there is a nut and gasket below.

I want to buy a replacement cap only for my kitchen air gap (part #72020-SS.) What is the part # for the cap only? Also, my new faucet is a Delta in Arctic Stainless but my sink is older and brushed stainless. Would you suggest SS or AR for the cap?
