Not a good design, if leaks matter.
I bought this wall elbow (#50560) a few years ago and finally am redoing the shower. It looks nice but I would NOT recommend one because unless you can cut our own ½” nipples to EXACTLY the right THREADED length you’ll have to wonder if there’s a leak in the wall, which you won’t know for sure until the tiles start falling off and the studs begin to rot. The instructions say the nipple should stick out from the finished wall no more than ½” and no less than ¼”. Mine was right at ½”, but it was too short—the threads weren’t very tight and the plastic gasket that should seal against the wall wasn’t very tight. Another full turn would be another 1/14” tighter, which wasn’t possible. I might have got another ½ turn. There’s no give in the porcelain tile and cement backer board. I figured if the threaded length of my nipple were 1/20” longer it may have worked.
I phoned Delta but the woman could offer no help. How do they expect these to work? If you could access the pipe in the wall from behind it might work, but I’d have to punch a hole through the stucco exterior of my house.
I may buy a Kohler 22174-CP elbow, which doesn’t have the same problem—you tighten the pipe (and feel confident it is leak-proof), then press the wall plate against the wall with silicon sealant behind it. Not quite the same look, but better than a possible leak in the wall!
The photo shows a 2" brass nipple. I wound up using a 2" galvanized nipple, which was a little tighter, but not tight enough to keep me from worrying about leaks.

Nice utility sink
Nice capacity. The rubber mat prevents scratching the sink bottom. This is consumer grade, so don't expect the scratch resistance of commercial grade. Use the rubber mat!!

Great Accessory but missing a gasket
Very happy with my purchase and the overall quality. However, the item came without an installation gasket. Hoping that it doesn't take too long to receive a replacement. Wishing that there was a link on the Delta website where we could go for these things instead of using customer support....which had a 30 min wait time.

My contractor installed the supply elbow with the outlet facing up. Can this be adjusted so it faces down?
Thank you for your review, Jaypro! The wall elbow threads on to a 1/2" (13 mm) iron pipe nipple. This can be unscrewed and threaded on correctly, but please be sure to apply plumbers tape to the pipe thread as per the instructions.

What is this product made of? Plastic?
Also what is the shower bar on the model 57021 made out of? Assuming it's NOT brass?

Customer wants us to install a diverter and elbow (50560) but wants a cap for the elbow. They do not want a wand at this time but later.
Thank you for your question, SueE! Unfortunately we do not manufacture a cap for this elbow however this model does include a thread-on tool that can be left on as a plasterguard if needed. We would not recommended capping this area to control water flow as the main control valve will do this.

My son recently installed this for a hand shower as part of a complete bathroom remodel. As instructed, he used a 1/2" IRON pipe nipple. Now dirty rusty h2o blasts into my new tub every time used! Why iron? Thanks alot...
So hopefully you used a galvanized steel nipple or brass nipple not a black iron nipple which over time will rust and rot and leak. You just need 1/2 MIP thread.

i need it to end up flush with shower and turned correctly for hose connection ,any suggestions
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 50560 can easily be installed on your piping. We do not have any "tricks" that we can recommend to make sure that it is turned the correct way.

I have R10000 rough in valve and want to have a shower head and a handheld than can be used together or separately. What trim kits etc do I need? I like the Dryden and other modern sleek styles.
