No hot water control built in - won't pass CA inspections
There's nothing indicating this when you buy this product, but this rough-in won't pass plumbing inspections here in San Francisco, CA because there's no temperature control to prevent scalding. That should be disclosed.

Dissappointed, low flow
Not sure why, but we're getting low flow with our valve. Measured directly from bare pipe in to 5 gallon bucket, 8gpm. Measured from valve after connecting, 5gpm. Takes 12 minutes to fill our tub. Took about 7 minutes in our old tub with a low grade tub faucet. Disappointed after spending nearly a grand on a tub filler/valve combo.
And yes, plumbing is configured correctly. Only about 5' from main 3/4" branch which is a short run from main incoming/water heater. 65psi on well head, 55 at fixtures.

Actual rough in valve flow rate?
If this valve was installed but didn't have a spout installed, what would the maximum GPM flow rate be? I understand that the intended use is with a wall mount lavatory faucet trim and that trim would only be 1.2 GPM max flow. I'm just curious about the actual flow without restriction.

Thank you for your inquiry! The R3500-WL is a wall mounted rough in valve for a lavatory faucet. The restriction is in the trims that are to be used with this rough in which is 1.2 GPM (gallons per minute at 60 PSI). The valve doesn't have a separate flow rate.

WHAT TRIM GOES WITH THIS ROUGH IN? R3500-WL
Thank you for your question. The Delta Wall Mount Rough-In R3500-WL valve is for a Wall Mount Lavatory faucet. The lavatory trim kits for this valve are T3552LF-WL, T3561LF-WL, T3592LF-WL and T3597LF-WL models. The Delta Rough-In Valve R3500-WL can also be used with the Pivotal model T5799-WL, it is currently the only Tub Filler designed to work with it.

It seems to be that the hot water is limited, how do I turn the hot water limit up?

Thank you for your question. With this model, the temperature is balanced manually. When only the hot handle is open, the temperature will be the same as what is provided by the hot water supply. We recommend that the temperature of your water heater be set no higher than 120 degrees.

delta is using this valve as a tub fill, will tub spouts and roman tub handles fit this valve and what is the gallons per minute?

Thank you for your question. The R3500-WL is a wall mounted rough in valve for a lavatory faucet. The restriction is in the aerator of the trim that would be used with this rough in which is 1.2 GPM (gallons per minute at 60 PSI) flow rate. This would not suitable to fill a bath tub. Unfortunately, we do not make any wall mount Roman/Whirlpool/Garden tub faucets or valves.

You indicate above this valve will work with tub filler T5799-SSWL. However, it's listed as a "sink valve" on Home Depot's website. What is the GPM rate? Plumber recommended between 5-7 GPM for a tub filler. Is there a better valve for the tub filler?

Thank you for your question. We recommend to install this right side up. If absolutely needed, you can install this upside down. The stems are not reversible. You will have the hot and cold water lines opposite.

Rough in suggestion
I’m going to use the trinsic RP77350 wall mount tub filler less diverted and the trinsic H659BL handles to do a wall mount. Do you have a suggestion for which rough in I can use?

Thank you for your questions. Unfortunately, we do not have a rough-in valve for these parts. The H659BL handles are designed for deck-mount Roman Tub Faucets. The RP77350 can be used with an R10000 Rough-In Valve and any 13/14, 17, or 17T series trim kit.
