Yes, our new and old Roman tub valve roughs use can use this stem. In general, if the older trim spout has a set screw on the back at the bottom securing it to the spout adapter rough, the old trim can be replaced with a current trim. Check the specifications of the new trim kit that the footprint will fit the valve rough location. Pivotal T2799, T4799 handles are not compatible with older roughs - R2700, RP23601, and RP18227.
