Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exact Part I Needed I tried to buy this part locally at a plumbing supply but the part was a knock off and the fastening screw had the wrong size head. I had toreplace a leaking cartridge and seat and spring for the first time in a 35-year-old shower faucet. Had a hard time getting off the handle ended up breaking this extension piece. So glad I was able to find the exact replacement available from Delta after all these years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for! When this piece broke on my current Delta Diverter knob I thought I'd never be able to fix it without total replacement. Called Delta and spoke with a rep for about 15 minutes and she identified the exact part I was looking for. I immediately Googled the part and wound up on faucetdirect and two days later I had the part in hand. Awesome company, great customer service and prices. Will be coming back here for any future needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great service everything was as it should have been, almost choked on the shipping thou. also dont know why its listed as chrome none on this piece of "plastic" would be nice if delta made a better part to begin with then i would not have needed to replace them in the first place.

Q&A

What handles will fit this extender RP18627?

I live in an old house with old parts and pieces on everything! My bathtub knobs never had screws in them to begin with - just these knobs that tend to fall off every few months. The last fall resulted in a break of a knob. I want to replace the knobs (and preferably with cross handles - set of 3 for hot/cold/tub-shower). I've attached a picture of what sticks out of the wall underneath these knobs. My research shows this to be a Delta RP18627 stem extender. I wanted to know: a) how do I figure out what faucet handles/knobs will fit on these extenders; and/or b) if I cannot find or do not like option a, how do I remove these extenders? (I DIY-ignorant in this area, so am hoping for some clear layman's terms with all the details!) Thank you in advance for any time and help on this issue - I would really really appreciate it!!
Asked by: squideast
Hi Squideast, Thank you for your question. The cross style handles that are available for the 3 handle tub/shower faucet that you have will be the models H46 and H36. The H46 includes the hot and cold handles and the H36 the diverter handle. You will also need RP20184, these are long screws that strengthen the stem extender and give the set screw from the handle a place to attach. These are a metal cross handle in a chrome finish. The porcelain cross handles are no longer available. You cannot change the stem extender, it attaches to the stem that turns the water on and off. Thanks, Dave

how in install stem extender

Asked by: Paul
Hi Paul, Thank you for your question. The stem extender will fit onto the stem assembly the same way a handle would. Match the D pattern up properly and slide the extension on. The long screw would go on next on a lever handle, handle next then screw on a knob style handle. Thanks, Dave

what type of tool is needed to unscrew RP19654 to replace a broken RP 18627 and can this replacement be done from the top at the tub level?

Asked by: joe
Hi Joe, Thank you for your question. The RP19654 sleeve can be removed from above the deck. If it cannot be removed by hand, we recommend to use an adjustable wrench or channel lock pliers, and to use a cloth or rag to protect the sleeve from getting scratched. Best regards, Jon

Which plastic handles will fit this Stem Extender?

Hello, I have an old Peerless Shower/Tub combo, and recently replaced a broken Stem Extender (Peerless part # RP12627) with this Delta Part RP18627 - it was a perfect fit. Now, I need to replace the Plastic Handle, and cannot find it using the old Peerless Part # RP9410. Please tell me which Handles will fit Delta Stem RP18627 thanks so much!

Any "D" broach handle will fit. I have some nice porcelain crosses that have a "D" broach adapter. Moen makes one that fits: http://www.faucetpartsplus.com/product_p/461820.htm Delta makes a few that take the "D" broach.

how do I remove the nut that is holding this stem extender in place

Asked by: Julie
Hi Julie, Thank you for your question. You can use an adjustable wrench to turn the nut (sleeve) counter-clockwise. You may also unscrew the base ring first to allow more room for the wrench. Best regards, Jon

Do I simply pull out the extender to replace or is something holding it in place? I have an older deck mounted shower knob on a whirlpool bath tub and the extender stem broke and I can’t pull it out with pliers. I need clear directions.

Is there a version that is metal at the tip? We use this in our shower with kit RP18304, more specifically in the sleeves, and use H297 levers. They keep breaking over time due to the lever action to turn them.
