PRODUCT FEATURES
Single-function valve cartridge controls the temperature at full output flow. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta® tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. The handle limit stop's integrated design allows easy adjustment via pull and turn. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap. Comes with all Delta pressure balance tub and shower faucets. *Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. May require seasonal adjustments.
  • Monitor® single-function pressure balance cartridge
  • Use with Monitor® 1300/1400 Series tub & showers produced before March 2006
  • Allows for temperature control

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Miserable quality, expensive paperweight They don't last. We have two showers on opposite sides of the same wall running the same water. In shower #1, the cartridge is as old as anyone can remember. In shower #2, we replaced the cartridge a year ago. $200 contract labor plus the cost of the cartridge. It lasted 6 months and started its ever-worsening leak when turned to the off position. $200 more plus the cost of another cartridge. The new one just suffered the same failure as the last two, and had to be replaced again. Another $200 labor, another new cartridge cost. We're down almost $1,000 this year alone on these defective Delta cartridges. I might as well buy the knockoffs that cost a quarter of what these cost if I'm going to have to have them replaced every 6 months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing Better Than OEM Buying directly from Delta rubber stamps OEM components that are built to last. I've learned my lesson about the risk of selecting after market items or those that are advertised as compatible with OEM parts. If you're a DIY guy, especially when dealing with plumbing repairs, my advice is to buy OEM and enjoy significant savings on plumbers fees when the job is complete. More often than expected, 50-75% savings on a part can translate into the frustration of having to repeat the repair and do without for a longer duration until the OEM part is delivered. Being greedy has its unfortunate consequences, so trust Delta over third party sources!

I have a Delta Moniter in my shower. It was installed late 2005 or very early 2006 (Hurricane Katrina rebuild). I would like to tolally rebuild this faucet. Please advise as what I would nedd to complete this task.

Asked by: Marsh Pirate
Thank you for your question, Marsh Pirate! If your existing shower trim took an RP19804 cartridge, any trim in the Delta 13/14 series can replace the existing trim, without having to change the rough in valve. The RP19804 cartridge would need to be used, instead of the RP46074 cartridge that comes included with a new 13/14 series trim. Best Regards, Benjamin

I have a Delata shower faucet models 1300 & 1400 series. I have very low flow rate. The temp is luke warm, about 90 degrees. My water heater is 120 degrees. I'm thinking the balancing valve is the culprit. Is there a replacement valve that will fix this?

Asked by: Pete
Hi Pete, Thank you for your question regarding our Delta Faucet RP19804. It sounds as though the rotational limit stop may not have been adjusted. The rotational limit stop is used to limit the amount of hot water available such that, if set properly, the user will not be scalded if the handle accidentally is rotated to “hot” when a person is showering or filling a tub. The first position allows the LEAST amount of hot water to mix with the cold water in the system. In the first position, the water will be the coldest possible when the handle is turned to hot. As you move the rotational limit stop counterclockwise, you progressively add more and more hot water to the mix. The last position to the left will result in the greatest amount of hot water to the mix, and the greatest risk of scald injury if someone accidentally turns the valve handle to the hot side while showering or filling a tub. To adjust the temperature of the water coming out of the valve, pull the disc back to a position where it is possible to remove the rotational limit stop and readjust the teeth engagement position to the desired temperature. Clockwise will decrease the outlet temperature, counterclockwise will increase the outlet temperature. Temperature change per tooth (notch) could be 4° - 16°F based on inlet water conditions. Repeat as necessary. Push disc until fully seated. If you would like installation help, you may contact our residential warranty line directly at 800-345-3358 (prompt 2, then 4). We also have how-to videos on our website and on our YouTube channel. https://www.deltafaucet.com/service-parts/how-to-videos It is possible that flushing the product could resolve the low flow issue. To do this, turn off the water supplies, remove the cartridge, and turn the supplies back on for one minute. Please make sure that you are getting good flow through both the hot and cold sides while flushing. You can also shake the cartridge back and forth to make sure the back half of the cartridge rattles. This means that the pressure-balancing spool is moving freely, as it should. If you would like installation help, you may contact our residential warranty line directly at 800-345-3358 (prompt 2, then 4). We are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. I just installed a new Delta Shower Cartridge (RP19804) in my Delta 1300/1400 series shower. However, after shutting the shower off, the handheld shower head still has a slow drip for about 4-5 minutes. Any recommendations?

Asked by: OCOrygun
Hi OCOrygun, thank you for contacting Delta Faucet Company! Residual water will drip out of the shower head or hand shower after shutting the unit off. You can soak your component in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water to loosen any debris or calcium/mineral buildup. We appreciate your inquiry. Hi there, I have a old shower faucet (should be cartriage RP19804) in my house build in 1998. It is leaking from shower head. I want to change the faucet cartriage, trim and plastic handle. Can you tell the available new models to fit in old valve?

Asked by: Haitao
Hi Haitao, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP19804. We recommend replacing the RP4993 seats and springs in the legs of the cartridge for a leak from the showerhead. The valve that uses an RP19804 cartridge would not fit a new MultiChoice cartridge, but a new 13/14 series trim will fit the old cartridge and valve. The MultiChoice cartridge included with a new trim would not be used.
