Repair kit for Delta 600 series w/ push button diverter

House built in 1987, tub/shower with crystal knob, round escutcheon, and push button diverter. When in shower position, water leaks out the diverter and water flow is minimal at the shower head. What is the proper repair kit for this faucet? On RP54870, I noticed a discussion of a replacement for a similar aged product with the push button diverter, leading me to this product item. If I plug the push button diverter, do I then replace the tub faucet with one that has a built-in diverter? I notice all your current products place the diverter on the tub faucet.
Asked by: Spino
Hi Spino, Thank you for your question. It sounds like the diverter itself is the problem with your faucet. RP5649 is the model number for the push button diverter assembly. RP54870 is a remodel kit for the faucet. If you choose to go with these parts you would have to plug the diverter in the valve body and switch the tub spout to one that has a diverter.

Do you have a install video of how to change the old push button out to this non push button

Asked by: nicole
Hello Nicole, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not have a installation video for the Delta Push Button Diverter Plug RP2865 at this time. However, once the push button diverter is unscrewed/removed from the valve, you would just simply screw this plug into the valve in its place. Best regards, Tanya

What are the thread dimensions/types for this plug

Hi, I could not judge threads based on picture. Can you share exact dimensions or specs drawing for this RP2865 plug? Thank you.
Asked by: Guru
The size and type of threads on the plug are of no importance. The plug is made to fit the opening left by removal of the diverter push button. It is specially machined to allow the attached "O" ring to fit snugly into the valve body and not leak. The seal is not made by a tapered thread. If you do not have an understanding of simple plumbing connection processes you really should not attempt to make repairs on a plumbing system. If you have trouble understanding the basis of this answer....you are not qualified to make the repair. Call a plumber familiar with Delta faucet products for advice or even better to show you how to make the repair. DDH Licensed Master Plumber Elmira, NY

When I put the plug in will a normal escucheon trim fit over it or do I need a specific one . m kit

Asked by: Mikey
Hi Mikey, Thank you for your question. If your faucet has a push-button diverter, this plug will allow you to use a normal escutcheon plate. Best regards, Jon

Is the plug hidden by the escutcheon plate?

I'm planning to replace the 600 series clear with the RP54870 renovation kit and want to replace the existing push-button diverter with a tub spout that has a diverter. Does this plug go under the escutcheon so that it is not visible? (I'm replacing with venetian bronze so if this plug shows, it won't match.)
Asked by: Deborah
Hi Deborah, The RP2865 plug will be installed behind the escutcheon plate and not visible once the trim is in place.. Thanks, Dave

Hi. I can't tell if the plug has threads; could you please confirm if the plug is to be soldered in place when switching to a spout diverter. Thx!

Asked by: DC
Hi DC, Thank you for your question. The RP2865 push button diverter plug is threaded. You will not have to solder the plug into place. Thanks, Dave
