DELTA DESIGN ISSUE & HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT!
DO NOT BUY THIS REMODEL RING! The center hole is exactly 5" in diameter, and most Delta shower sets include a seating ring (part #: RP51035 - bracket & screws) that is only 5 2/8" on the outermost oval of the flanges. That only leaves 1/8" of maximum overlap on either side of that seating ring to hold onto and stay seated against the remodel plate so that the Escutcheon & Gasket (part #: RP100723 - or whichever round shower plate your set includes) can then be twisted on to seat securely against the remodel ring. The tiniest bit of twisting torque to mount the round escutcheon plate of your shower set causes the seating ring to fall back inside of the remodel plate, making a secure seal impossible. THIS IS A DELTA DESIGN DEFECT; IT IS NOT A FEATURE! If Delta had made the oval wings on part #RP51035 bracket just 1/4" wider, it would easily hold solidly against the remodel plate and never fall back inside when trying to mount the round shower faceplate. My plumber kluged a fix for this by using metal sheetrock anchors and screw in both of the outer flange holes. This kluge enabled the bracket to then be solidly attached to the remodel plate, allowing the round escutcheon plate to then be twisted and tightened against the remodel plate for a tight fit.
Delta Customer Service was beyond useless. Their rep told me that "the RP290827 remodel plate isn't compatible with some of the Delta shower sets." I asked her which ones and why it didn't list those incompatible models on the Delta website for this remodel plate. I asked her for the URL/Link on the Delta website where it showed those incompatible models. She couldn't produce it. She seemed to indicate that she had a memo that explained this, which I asked her to email to me. She refused and said "I don't have any way to send this to you." Minutes earlier she had already texted and emailed me an exploded parts view of the shower set we had purchased, but she somehow couldn't find a way to text or email me this mysterious internal memo that said that many Delta shower sets are incompatible with this remodel plate, nor could she point me anywhere on their website that said the same. I told her that I was recording this part of our call for "quality assurance purposes" and she got angry and said that she didn't want me to do that. I'm willing to post that recording for the rest of the community to hear just how inept and worthless the Delta Customer Support team really is, and how they deny, delay and deflect (DDD) legitimate customer issues. She connected me to a supervisor, who spoke to me for 3-4 minutes with similar useless excuses (which I also recorded), and then that supervisor just hung up on me. I didn't swear, get belligerent or out of control at any point during that conversation, so having her hang up on me was beyond unprofessional.

An inexpensive way to convert 3 handles to 1 handle
We were happy to learn that this cover plate could convert our three handle shower/tub unit into a one handle unit. This allowed us to upgrade to this newer format without having to tear out all the tiling in the shower/tub area. Our new shower unit is brushed nickle, which is a slighty different from this cover plate so it is not a perfect match, but it is fine.

Delta does indeed need to fix the description up above, claiming this is brass. Still, the complaints are surprising. Outside the very expensive high end shower products, everyone's trim plates are plastic, specifically because consumers are unwilling to pay for brass at that spot. The Delta trim set you're installing with this, has a lot of plastic (because you - yes you - won't pay what it costs otherwise). Considering this item exists entirely to provide an economical way to change from old technology to new (safer, code compliant) technology, of course it is made of the more economical material. Plastic is only problematic if someone over-tightens during installation.

Cheaply made and not brass as advertised
This product is grossly overpriced. It is a piece of black plastic painted with oil oil rubbed bronze paint. I can’t imagine that it would hold up for any length of time.

Which of your products for bath and shower are compatible with a renovation plate

The Delta Shower Renovation Cover Plate RP29827SS is 8 1/8" tall and 13" wide. The center hole is 5 1/8" in diameter and the screws are 9" apart. We have several escutcheons that are compatible with this renovation cover plate but not a comprehensive list of them. Upon finding a trim kit you are interested in you can look at the technical specifications to see if it is compatible.

please confirm TRINSIC diverter trim T11859CZ can be installed with the cover plate RP29827CZ together precisely fitting well. Please also confirm T11859CZ will be installed on the rough in valve R11000. Thanks!
