REVIEWS
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great, but does not function. I should have read the reviews better. The toe open and close function does not work at all. We have to push the stopper with our fingers to get it to work. It’s not worth the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Constantly gets stuck and won’t drain This product installed easily and looks very nice but that is where the positives stop. Since almost immediately after installation, the stopper will get stuck in the down position and not allow you to drain the tub.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Delta Push Drain Stopper Difficult to close. Often takes several pushes to seal closed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Design, Read the Reviews Do NOT buy this product. I ordered two of them despite the bad reviews because my plumber with 30+ years experience said he has never had issues with toe stoppers. Well, he could not make this product work no matter what. We returned them and went with another brand even though the new product color was slightly off from my current Delta hardware because I wanted high quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect match I was afraid the metals wouldn't match. Delta champagne bronze. Looks high-end. Love it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work This item doesn’t work. I purchased in the hope that some of the reviews were wrong, unfortunately not. Installed in my bath tub and can’t use it……

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage. Does not seal. Don't waste your money or sanity on this. Simply does not work at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Go a different direction We had the drain stopper break at the screw in part. Extremely difficult to use and a waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from AVOID! This causes me fury daily We basically gut our entire 4 bedroom home, and these tub drains are literally the only thing I am unhappy about. They are impossible to plug and then unplug. I often just have to unscrew the entire closure piece out. Absolutely avoid at all costs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delta drain stopper Delta is a brand you can trust. I always use their products and have never had to return them for any reasons. Well made with an awesome warranty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just bad Whole home remodel and this toe stopper is the only thing I’m unhappy with. It doesn’t seal. It doesn’t open. I’ve adjusted it and even taken it apart and it just doesn’t work. It’s just a bad unreliable design that somehow made it through to consumers. Out of all the things that could be huge headaches during a remodel, I didn’t think the tub stopper would be one of them. So, add that one to the list if you’re planning on buying this stopper.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sent a review earlier and had wrpng number for toe operated stopper I believe I used no.ps31558 Number in tub is RP693 Need rubber seal for the item Seal ripped inhalf

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not just a toe tap away from working. II have 3 of these in my tubs and they all require a bit of manipulation to get them to seal and pop open.
Date published: 2021-03-24
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plug doesn’t work I went to use the plug and it won’t actually press down to seal it closed. Very frustrating, to replace just the plug is very expensive. Not happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement tub stopper/drain Worked really well with our Victoria and Albert tub!! So happy with this drain

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn’t hold water I read all the reviews that rate this product at one star but I had delta faucet products and wanted to match the color. I thought surely people were not adjusting it properly. Now I have to agree with them. I took it all apart and adjusted the inner brass screw as much as possible. It leaks less but it still leaks. So now I have to periodically add water to my son’s bath so he doesn’t run out. I am disappointed that such a simple product could fail at its only task.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopper came apart when unscrewed The stopper came apart when I tried to unscrew it and now it leaks. I tried to reassemble, but the rubber gasket appears to be warped after coming apart.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Bought this for a bathroom remodel job on my own home. The drain plunger fell apart in less than a year and after looking at it closer I discovered that the rubber seal is already cracked.
Date published: 2020-07-02
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not robust Was around for 4 months before breaking in half. Not the same quality as delta fixtures.
Date published: 2020-05-10
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped closing I installed this two weeks ago and the plug has always had issues with the seal (sounds like a buzzing noise as it let's all the water down the drain even with adjusting). Yesterday the drain simply just stopped catching and clicking into the down position. Simply, I can not fill the tub because it does not click in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not do the job !! Cheap !! I bought a new tub and facets. The top stopper worked once and I said 1 time. Did every everyone said to do. I loosen it, tighten it, nothing works !! I thought it was just people were not using it right with all the bad reviews. Should have took all these reviews and not bought this product. Delta, with all the bad reviews, you don't think you could fix this problem?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work Mine worked for three months, then began leaking water and making a loud humming noise. I called Delta for a replacement and the replacement does the same thing. Sounds like a fan running but it is the rubber piece vibrating and no adjustment will stop it. Plumber said he has not seen this before. Does not stop water from draining. Now I have to switch out to the lever assembly and pay for the part and labor to replace in order to match the finish! :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from pretty, but doesn't work love the finish but honestly the stopper doesn't work at all. can't get the tub to hold water. guess my daughter will be in the infant tub until she's old enough to shower...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not hold up I bought this in champagne bronze and the finish has already started to come off. No harsh chemicals were used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Drain Waste Plug Too Large For Existing Plumbing I am remodeling my master bath & have replaced ALL shower, vanity & tub fixtures with Delta units from the Linden collection in Champange Bronze (very good quality & modern finish). The last items I ordered were the bath tub drain/stopper assembly, RP31558-CZ (Champagne Bronze). The indications/information on the Delta web site showed it would fit a 1 1/2" waste pipe assembly (no dimensional spec sheet was available). After receiving the RP31558-CZ assembly, I find that instead of being 1 1/2" diameter (measuring across the threaded portion that screws into the pipe/fitting assembly under the tub), it measures 1 3/4" diameter. Given the fact that the option to replace the drain pipe/fitting assembly to match the RP31558-CZ under the tub would be near impossible without removing the entire tub, I was in a real "pickle". I finally called Delta Customer Support and after a long research period, the agent found 2 individual parts (RP16686-Toe-Operated Stopper & RP16687-Toe-Operated Waste Plug) in 1 1/2" diameter, but they were not available in Champagne Bronze. It is manufactured in Brilliance Brushed Bronze. The good ending is that Delta is providing these new parts free of charge. I am hoping that it is close enough in color/shade to Champagne Bronze that it will not be noticeable in the bottom of the tub. I suggest: 1) Other customers be VERY careful when ordering these drain assemblies as a replacement in an existing tub. 2) I hope Delta will provide more detailed/accurate spec sheets on these types of parts. 3) I suggest Delta manufacture the RP16686/16687 in Champagne Bronze.

How do I remove the "inner parts" for cleaning and unclogging? The top part unscrews by hand which is nice but I cannot figure your how to remove the other parts.

Asked by: Hartmut
Thank you for your question Hartmut! The Delta Tub Drain Stopper and Flange RP31558 is not designed to be taken apart, besides the stopper unscrewing out of the flange. Best Regards, Christina

Do I install “as is” or can I remove the rubber gasket/washer and use plumber’s putty?  I installed it using the washer and the top of the lip of the drain is about 1/16” above water level.  I’m afraid to screw the assembly in any tighter.  Thanks!

Asked by: whking52
Hello Whking52, Than you for your question. The rubber gasket around the stopper assembly is not designed to be removed. The gasket helps seal and close off the drain, when trying to hold water in the tub. Best regards, Tanya
