Poor design
Like others, this broke easily after minimal use. I love the other parts of the shower, just very disappointed in the stopper. I worry that another $100 stopper is going to break again, but I really want it to match the other fixtures.

Brand New Drain Plug Leaks
I just had a plumber install a new spa tub faucet and drain. I went to use the tub for the first time and the tub drain stopper will not stay down. The one time I got it to stay down, it was no providing an full seal and the water was leaking thru so the tub did not stay filled. Looking at reviews, I see this is a recurring problem. How can this be such a poor product with such a high quality name like Delta!

Perfect Match and Flawless Function!
Five stars for the Delta RP31558 pop-up drain! The satin stainless finish looks incredible and coordinates perfectly with my Delta bathroom setup. Installation was quick and straightforward with just some plumber's putty. Best of all, the pop-up mechanism works effortlessly and actually holds water completely tight—unlike so many other drains I've used in the past. Highly recommend!

Drain plug will not stay down.
Was not able to use the tub even one time. The drain plug will not stay down to seal the drain. It is a very cheap plastic cartridge, and not a premium part worth $130. Are replacement cartridges available instead of buying the entire drain plug assembly?

Stopper Broke Off
My drain started draining slower so I tried to unscrew the stopper so I could properly clear the drain. The stopper wouldn't even budge. Eventually I turned it hard enough to snap it right off. Even though this was meant to unscrew, it did not unscrew without breaking. Very bad design.

Hello Sb57!. Thank you for your question. The stopper can be removed by unscrewing it counter-clockwise from the flange. If it seems stuck, it may help to use a flat rubber jar opener to help grip it.

Thanks for reaching out! The top of the stopper is 1 15/16" in diameter. The threads on the flange are 1 1/2" and 11 1/2 TPI, and the top of the flange is 2 13/16" in diameter.

Replacing other tub drain
We have a Delta lift and turn tub drain stopper. It has never really worked correctly since the beginning. I believe the tub drain stopper was part of the Linden collection, but it could just be a standard lift and turn stopper. Will we be able to switch this tub drain in for the lift and turn stopper, or would it require a professional help? Pictures below
Hi David, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the dimensions for the drain assembly threads and the stopper threads on the twist and lock and toe touch models are different and cannot be switched out.

Roman tub Overflow plate and stopper
I am replacing the T2710 PB faucet in my roman tub with a new T2705SS and need to also replace overflow plate and stopper kit. current stopper is a twist and lock. Do you have a roman tub twist and lock in SS?

Can you revise your specification DSP-B-RP293_Rev_B.pdf (& other related Spec Sheets) to show the exact diameter of the threaded area of the bath tub drain/stopper RP31558? Apparently, there was an "old" standard size & now a "new" standard size.

I am looking to replace my tub drain stopper because every time I get Oil Rubbed Bronze finish, the finish ends up with corrosion and pitting almost right away from my water and we have soft water. I was wondering if Delta has a product that won't do that

Thank you for your question. Although our finishes are extremely durable, they may be damaged by harsh abrasives or polish. To clean, we recommend simply wiping with a gentle damp cloth and then blotting dry with a soft towel.
If water deposits are especially troublesome, you may use a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water to remove them. White vinegar is strong enough to dissolve mineral deposits, yet mild enough not to damage our finishes.
Note: Please be aware white vinegar may stain some porous materials like untreated stone. If you have an unsealed tile or counter top, please take care when cleaning your products.
If you’d prefer using a chemical cleaning product, our finishes may be cleaned with the following household cleaners: Formula 409® Antibacterial All-Purpose Cleaner, Fantastic® All-Purpose Cleaner, or Windex® Original Glass Cleaner, when used according to the manufacturer’ instructions.
Any cleaners not listed above may be tried if they do not contain hydrofluoric, hydrochloric and/or phosphoric acids or similar caustic agents. Some examples of chemical cleaners to avoid are: green Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponges, Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom Cleaner and Lysol Basin Tub, and Soft Scrub and Tile Cleaner.
Note: Any products that state on the label that they remove tarnish and rust will most likely harm the finished products.
Most drain cleaners may be used when following their specific directions and not allowing exposure to the finish longer than 30 minutes.

How do I remove the "inner parts" for cleaning and unclogging? The top part unscrews by hand which is nice but I cannot figure your how to remove the other parts.

Do I install “as is” or can I remove the rubber gasket/washer and use plumber’s putty? I installed it using the washer and the top of the lip of the drain is about 1/16” above water level. I’m afraid to screw the assembly in any tighter. Thanks!

Than you for your question. The rubber gasket around the stopper assembly is not designed to be removed. The gasket helps seal and close off the drain, when trying to hold water in the tub.

Is the Delta RP31558SS tub drain solid stainless steel or is it just a stainless finish?

Are drains in jacuzzi tubs larger than in standard tubs?
In one bath we have a standard tub/shower and in the master bath we have a jacuzzi tub. The drain seat looks larger in the jacuzzi tub. Does Delta have polished brass drains to fit both? If so, please provide model numbers for each. We are planning to replace both because the brass finish is wearing off. These drains have likely been installed for about 25 years.

Thank you for your question. We do offer a waste and overflow that will work for your bathtub. We do not stock a unit that fits the deeper jacuzzi tubs. The drain assembly part # is RP391PB for the trip lever style that will fit your normal bathtub.

My tub drain opening is 1 3/4 inches in diameter (or the threaded PVC pipe is 1 3/4 inches). Will the Delta drain RP31558CZ work with that diameter opening? If not, does this drain come in other sizes?
