PRODUCT FEATURES
Dual-function valve cartridge maintains a consistent water temperature from one shower to the next. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta® tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap. Comes with all Delta pressure balance tub and shower faucets. *Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. May require seasonal adjustments.
  • Monitor® dual-function pressure balance cartridge
  • Use with Monitor® 1700/1800 Series tub & showers produced before March 2007
  • Allows for separate volume and temperature control
  • Also works with 1500 Series produced after 1995

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Delta RP32104 I am using a licensed plumber and we are on my 4th RP32104 in 8 months. The first one we replaced to replace a gasket and that stopped the leak but after a month or so the handle spins around 360 and won't shut off the watter. I am not at all forceing or turning the handle with force because this cartridge cost $85 and I have purchased 4. I cannot change the housing without breaking tile and cuting the copper pipes but this is a bad design. Obviously Delta has changed the design because the old one lasted 17 years. This tiny square is the only thing that stops the handel from spinning around 360 and it keeps breaking. Can you help? This tiny

Rated 3 out of 5 by from single handle for RP32104 cartridge Just have plumber replaced RP32104 cartridge inside my Delta monitor series single handle, but the handle turn over 360, and couldn't stop at position of hot/cold water. Replaced second RP32104, still have same issue, handle could be turn over and over freely. I think I need to change this handle (should be around 15 years). Which single handle should I purchase to match this RP32104, would you send me a link?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent customer service I purchased my delta faucets over 20 years ago and when they required repair, I was worried I was not going to be able to find parts. I was able to identify the part number and order through customer service, so I am relieved I don't have to buy new fixtures...I will say that I had a similar issue with another brand, and theirs was warrantied for life, so that replacement has no charge...Wish delta had the same policy-but I am happy to be able to find the correct part.

Q&A

Replacement cartridge for older model 1700 from 2002

Replacing older model 1724PB-LHP installed in 2002 which was in new construction. Found my receipt from 2002. Don't know which type of rough in valve was used as I did not see it when installed. Didn't intend to replace the rough in valve or cut into walls...only wanted to replace the exterior escutcheon, temp/pressure handles and the shower head and arm. I was advised that T17278-RB trim kit would work but not to use the cartridge with gray cap that came with it. Cartridge package is marked 46878 REV A 10/11/05. I would have to use my old cartridge. As far as I can tell it appears to have a white cap. Which one do I use so that I don't have any rehab work behind the wall. Or, can I continue to use the old cartridge as long as it works. I viewed video which includes instructions for 13/14 series and 1700 series and believe I need cartridge RP32104 with the white cap and longer tab at bottom for 1700 series shipped prior to 2006. Thank you
Asked by: Bea
Hi Bea, Thank you for your question. The RP32104 is the correct cartridge to use with your 1700 series faucet from 2002. The T17278-RB trim will fit your existing faucet but the RP46463 cartridge that ships with the trim will not work with your existing rough in valve. Thanks, Dave

I have Delta Mulitchoice 13/14 series faucet the cartridge has gone bad, will a 1700 series cartridge work in this body?

Asked by: Dave
Hi Dave, Thank you for your question. The RP46463 cartridge will fit the rough in valve body from your Delta mutichoice 13/14 series faucet. You will also need a 17 series valve only trim to make the faucet function properly. The 17 series cartridge will come with the new trim. Thanks, Dave

I have the Delta series 1700 that uses the cartridge 32104 . What are the other part numbers or letters that I need to complete the rest of the unit. It just seems that no one can answer me on this question. Please help thx

Asked by: Raul
Thank you for your question, Raul! An original 1700 series Delta shower does use the RP32104 cartridge. This cartridge can be used with any of our current T17 trim kit options to complete your unit; however, please note that current trim kits will include a Multichoice 17 series cartridge that will not fit into the original 1700 series valve body and you must continue using the RP32104 cartridge. https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/bathing/tub--shower-faucets?ValveType=Dual-function+pressure+balance+cartridge&ValveType=Dual-function+thermostatic+cartridge Best regards, Edward

My house was built in 1980 and I am sure this shower off'/on is the original. I can fix quite a few things but I am afraid if I turn off the water and the parts I need, need to be ordered, is there a way to close it back up until I get the new parts?????

Asked by: KATHIE
Thank you for your question, KATHIE! RP32104 was not an available part at that time. Below the handle on the escutcheon plate, there may be a series number printed which will indicate the correct parts needed. All series and models can have the parts re-inserted in the event that they will need to be ordered. Please contact us directly if you need assistance finding the correct parts. Best regards, Edward

Can the RP32104 be replaced with a newer verion to change trim and handle?

Asked by: Mark H
Hi Mark, Thank you for your question! If you have an older 1700 series tub/shower you will be able to upgrade the trim to one of the T17 series trim. However, you will not be able to use the new 17 series multi choice cartridge. You will need to use your old RP32104 valve cartridge. Best regards, Brandis

I've used the rp32104 and I'm wondering what trim is compatible? Is it anything in the 17 series? Thanks!

Asked by: Rebecca
Hi, Thank you for your question. You can use any of the Delta tub and shower trim kits that start with a T17, except for the T17T series trim kits will interchange for you. Some model number examples are T17255 and T17278. The cartridges that come with the new trim kits will not fit your valve body, so you will need to reuse your existing RP32104 cartridge. I just bought a new home that has a model 1700 or 17 tub and shower valve the water just dosn't stay hot enough on the second shower .

I have hot water everywhere else. is this just an adjustment or a bad valve?
Asked by: rb
Thank you for your question. I apologize that you are having an issue with your faucet. It is possible that your rotational limit stop needs to be adjusted to allow more hot water to flow through your valve. Included here are instructions for adjusting the limit stop. The directions are on page 9. We also recommend making sure your hot water heater is set at around 120 degrees to get enough hot water to your shower. http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/t17430.html?document=mi&documentIndex=0&proUser=true

I have an old Delta Monitor 1500 series tub and shower fixture that is leaking. I'm replacing the cartridge assembly with the RP32104 conversion kit.

Can I still use my current handle and trim?
Asked by: Greg
I was not notified of that by a Delta rep. I am having major issues with getting the handle sleeve off of mine to get to the cartridge. I was told that the limit collar and that sleeve should slid right off. Granted I have calcium build up which I'm trying to take care of by spraying small amounts of "CLR" from a spray bottle occaisionly on the inside of it behind the temp. control handle/ring. Looks to me like there's a brass nut holding the sleeve on that's just in front of the screw on knurled chrome ring. I was told NOT to remove that nut. Looks like to me that that nut has to be removed to get that sleeve, that the volume lever screws into, in order to slide it off.

Will the rp32104 cartridge assembly replace a rp46463 cartridge assembly?

Asked by: Terrence B
Hi, Terrence B! Thank you for your question. The RP32104 will not replace the RP46463. If your Monitor 17 series trim kit was installed before 2006 and the cartridge is white, you will want to use RP32104. If your Monitor 17 series trim kit was installed after 2006 and the cartridge is gray, we recommend to use RP46463. Best Regards, Rosanna

Asked by: dave
Hi Dave, Thank you for your question! I am sorry this information was not readily available, and I am happy to help! The RP32104 cartridge would be included with pre-MultiChoice 17 series shower trims. A current, MultiChoice 17 series trim can be used. The new cartridge will not fit the old valve, but the new trim kit will fit the original valve and RP32104 cartridge. We don't currently carry 17 series shower trims in oil-rubbed bronze, but for example, the similar Venetian bronze finish would include model T17276-RB. https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/T17276-RB.html Please contact us directly if you have any questions or need additional assistance. Hi, my shower uses a RP32104 cartridge. However, i am a bit confused on which replacement shower handles (trims) from the Delta 17 series to buy? Can i buy TempAssure or i am limited just to Motion?

Asked by: cazamoral
Hi cazamoral, Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP32104. A shower that uses this cartridge would be from before we introduced our MultiChoice valve. A new 17 series trim should fit your valve and RP32104 cartridge, but not a 13, 14 or 17T series. The new cartridge included with the trim will not fit your valve.
