Thank you for your question!
The plate will slide over the end valve and secure to the underside of the sink. The nut will slide up the valve and you will thread it onto the valve securing the plate in place. Please see the following parts diagram for further assistance.

Specifically, what material is the washer made from, ie… steel, metal, brass, etc.? Additionally, is this material treated in anyway? Please provide the same information for the nut. Thank you.
