Great web site.
I have needed this part for 11 years (since I bought the place). Faucet started leaking so I had to take it apart and replace the guts. So I went to your web site and found the part I needed. So glad it is finally complete. Probably should have done this years ago. Great web site. Impressed I was able to find this part for such an old faucet.

Is RP42572 the replacement for the shower below?
Hi Fran, Thank you for your question. The RP42572 does appear to be the correct temperature knob and cover for the faucet in your photograph. The faucet is part of our 17 series Lockwood collection. I have attached the parts breakdown for this faucet below.

Is this piece made of metal or plastic?
I have a lockwood shower set that i bought at home depot around 7 years ago. The temperature lever is plastic and it is coming off. I would either like to replace with a real metal lever or completely change the trim.
Please let me know if it is metal - and please also let me know what replacement trim kits would work for this set.

Hi MMG, Thank you for your question. We do not currently offer a 17 series trim that comes with a metal temperature control knob. If your faucet is newer than February 2006 any of our trims will work with your existing rough. The 17 series offers temperature and volume control. The 13/14 series only temperature control.

How do I remove the RP42572 cover so I can replace the cartridge?
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP42572 can be removed by squeezing the sides together silghtly and then grasping the pointed end. Pull up the pointed end to remove it. There will be a screw underneath to remove and then the bonnet nut can be taken off, followed by the cartridge.

Thank you for your question. The Delta RP42572PT temperature knob and cover are not available separately. The whole RP42572PT would need to be replaced if the cover is needed.

To replace an entire T17 handle with a single-knob handle (like a Monitor 14-series) do you need to replace the cartridge as well?

Can the part RP28595 "Single Metal Lever Handle for Temperature Knob and Cover" be used as a replacement for this RP42572 temperature knob and cover?

The aged pewter finish is discontinued. This part is available in chrome as RP42572 and stainless as RP42572SS.
