PRODUCT FEATURES
Single-function valve cartridge controls the temperature at full output flow. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta® tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. The handle limit stop's integrated design allows easy adjustment via pull and turn. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap. This cartridge is included with tub and shower trim packages. *Requires inlet water temperature be set correctly. May require seasonal adjustments.
  • Monitor® single-function pressure balance cartridge
  • Use with MultiChoice® 13/14 Series tub & showers produced after March 2006
  • Allows for temperature control
  • Integrated rotational limit stop

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Fix I had a leaky shower faucet and this part was a quick fix and easy to install.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy installation, if only the product didn't leak The old model worked for 10 years. I bought the new Genuine Delta part because I didn't care that it was twice the price if it was going to work the first time. I installed it with almost no hitches... other than it leaked immediately. I turned off the water, removed the device, made sure there was no debris affecting it, and re-installed it. Still leaked. I closed the water shut-off valves to each side separately to confirm what was leaking, and it was the cold side only. What confidence can I have that the next one will work?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This is not needed when you buy the valve body The build site says this is a required part for the value the client liked. It is not required. the rough comes with this part

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks, leaks, leaks We have had this product for a couple years and it started leaking, husband attempted to tighten and fix. Of course it did not work. $85 for a replacement cartridge is ridiculous when they seem to put out a crap product to start with... Oh, but they charged over $200 dollars for it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leaky shower I bought this cartridge as a replacement for the leaky one in my shower. I had a plumber come in to do the replacement. Imagine my surprise to find the new one leaking worse than the one I replaced. Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks every 3 months without fail so far! This has by far been the highest maintenance shower faucet I have ever owned. We had a shower professionally installed back in late July, early August last year, which uses Delta cartridge RP46074. It first started leaking around late October, early November. I flushed and cleaned it twice as instructed by the plumber who installed it and Delta customer service. Delta customer service was kind enough to send me, free of charge, new seats and springs, which I installed on November 27th, 2020. It started leaking again before the end of February and got worse tonight. I am so frustrated!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst experience with this product. Leaking, leaking, leaking.....The leaking started about 2 months after my bathroom remodel. I tried everything this website suggested about fixing the leaking issue and it still continues to leak. After removing the cartridge and reseating the seats and springs, it worked fine with no leaks for about 2 days then it starts to leak again. I hope the replacement cartridge is an upgrade and fixes the leaking issue because this current design is terrible. Don't waist your money on this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Leaks, handle only turns 45 degrees, no hot water I bought this yesterday because the shower was leaking from the shower head and wouldn't shut off immediately. This cartridge does not turn more than a 45 degree arc and we only get lukewarm water. Neither of these issues is acceptable; we need some help.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Constantly dripping Do not buy poor quality. Started leaking less than 2 years from purchasing. Already flushed the valve and still same problem. I think if you buy their products for $200+ then it should be built with quality parts..There's no reason you should be buying replacement parts for $85.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New faucet dripping We just bought a newly remodeled home and the faucet is barely 1 year old. It has been leaking since the contractor installed it apparently because there are water stains in the bottom of the brand new tub around the drain. I have disassembled the cartridge and flushed the line twice with hopes it would stock leaking. No luck. I am not interested in spending $85 to replace a brand new cartridge

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Faucet Dripping water This is 16 months old and this issue started 5 months in. The faucet slowly drip, drip, drips.. Normally, only during Summer months. In the winter (now), I can let the hottest water run in the shower head, turn it off and it won't drip too badly. Do I need to replace the cartridge?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasts a Year We have rental properties and unfortunately installed several of these Delta valves. We are replacing them every year or two years. They drip. Apparently Delta now just resells poor quality China-made junk. What a shame. Formerly a fine company with fine American quality products. Our mistake. From now on it's never Delta!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Constantly Having to Replace we did a remodel in Oct 2016 and our two showers got this type of valve installed at that time. I have to replace this cartridge in both showers twice already. they start to fail and water leaks from the shower heads. I am writing this review now because I have to replace one now for the third time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 50% effective I have a new house with two of these in a master shower. Both had a slow but constant drip. At the expense of $85 ea. I've replaced both of these valves. It solved one, but the other continues to leak. The next time I turn off the water to the house I'll remove it and add some silicone on the hopes that works. That's all I have to say.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no hot water sprouts just cold I bought 11 months ago and it doesn't work, the cold water doesn't pass through RP46073

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install I purchased this valve from Delta right after I had the house remodeled, 4 years ago, with all plumbing. I was able to follow the directions and easily replaced the dripping facuet/ valve in about 30-40 minutes this morning. I will say that the limit stop is a little different from the actual valve that came with the faucet, but the hot side gets really hot! I have no issues with the flow of water either. Regarding the single handle set screw, would suggest to apply a small amount to set screw for easy removal in the future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very low water pressure Just did a remodel of the guest bathroom and installed a Delta 13/14 series valve for the tub/shower. With both the hot and cold lines fully open there was barely more than a trickle coming out of the faucet. With the cartridge removed water flows as expected out of the brass main body. Thinking I had a defective cartridge I purchased and installed a new one but it has the same issue. I am beyond frustrated.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Slow or no water flowing through the cartridge I am having the same problem Dennis had. I installed a new cartridge and the flow is very slow. however without the cartridge the pressure is extremely strong. What is the recommended solution. This have been going on for over a year I have three showers and its the same problem with all of them. The hot water is not connected as yet could that be the problem. How do i fix it?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not happy... yet! I bought this shower faucet since i knew Delta was reputable. I was not going to buy American Standard or pfizer or any others. I rebuilt and tiled the shower after demo-ing the previous one down to the studs. Everything is connected, the shower is complete; new Delta Porter faucet installed; BUT......... water will only come out of the cold side of the faucet, the hot just a tiny trickle. Here is the problem; i removed the cartridge pictured above, turned the water back on, first the cold, then the hot.... and water flowed freely out of the two holes in the back of the brass cartridge holder where the cartridge gets 'plugged into'. then i plug the cartridge back in and the hot water slows to a slow crawl again. This has NEVER been used! I'm beyond frustratated. The product LOOKS great but so far thats all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent customer service My plumber friend recommended delta when i remodeled my bathroom back in 2009 I installed my Delta Chrome 1-Handle WaterSense Bathtub and Shower Faucet with Single Function Showerhead. It has been excellent for everyday use for 8 years. but it developed a small leaks then turns into a big leak. Called customer service, i have replacement parts coming my way in about 10 minute of time. I am glad delta stands behind their product. I am lifetime delta customer now. It is going to be delta or nothing when it come to faucet.

Q&A

I have the classic Monitor 13 series shower assembly and my shower was installed in 1999 which cartridge do I use? RP46074 or RP19804? Thank you.

Asked by: TerryKuntz
Hi Terry Kuntz, Thank you for your question! You will need the RP19804 valve cartridge. The RP46074 valve cartridge is for 13/14 series tub/showers that were manufactured after March of " 2006". Best regards, Brandis

mine is 20 + years old. has the temp adjuster changed

I have a brass ring with teeth around the interior. A second piece that is nylon (?) that interfaces with the brass ring for adjusting temp. Is the #RP46074 replacing mine ?
Asked by: Roger
Hi Roger, Thank you for your question. 1400 series units manufactured prior to 2006 will use the RP19804 cartrdidge. You will find the redesigned rotational limit stop on this cartridge as well. http://www.deltafaucet.com/repairparts/details/rp19804.html Best regards, Jon

what valves do i buy to make two separate shower handles with each handle having volumn control. i have a shower head but no tub, and i do not like

the single valve in the center of the wall. do i use a solid brass wall mount, or do you have valves that can control each handle's water volume? Would a transfer valve work? I sent an email earlier but I think I wrote my email address wrong....
Asked by: Ariana
Hi Ariana, Thank you for your question. The only volume control rough in valve and trims that we offer are available through our Brizo product line in the Sensori high flow shower system. http://www.brizo.com/search/results.html?collection=BRZ_all&num=20&q=sensori Thanks, Dave

How can I make the water hotter with this cartridge, since it's not as hot as the old cartridge?

Asked by: Stephen
Thank you for your question, Stephen! Our cartridges include a Rotational Limit Stop that limits the amount of hot water allowed to mix into the valve and needs to be set at the time of installation. Information on adjusting this setting can be found on Step 3, Page 7 of the Maintenance and Installation manual below. https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/X00068881_M.pdf Best regards, Edward

I need the best temperature regulating cartridge for a shower

I installed the Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough In valve R10000-UNBX during the rough-in of our bathroom and need to purchase a cartridge that will keep temperature as steady as possible. It is a single family dwelling without big pressure swings. Which cartridge should I use to balance cost vs function?
Asked by: DMS
Hi, DMS! Thank you for your question. The valve cartridge comes with the new trim kit that you pick. This cartridge, RP46074, comes with our T14 series trim. This valve cartridge is pressure balanced. Best Regards, Rosanna

Can this cartridge be used with the T17097ss shower faucet?

Asked by: John G
Thank you for your question, John G! RP46074 is a 13/14 series MultiChoice cartridge. A current 17 series trim requires RP46463 instead. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP46463 Best regards, Edward

Earlier today I ran across a page on your site that shows the different cartridges, but cannot find it no matter what! (Your website is to hard to navigate!) Can you please tell me exactly what the difference is between cartridge series 13 and 14

Asked by: Randy
Thank you for your question, Randy! The 13 and 14 series have the same functionality, and take the same valve cartridges. The 13 series valve trims have a traditional design, and are all part of the Classic collection. The 14 series valve trims have a more contemporary design, and correspond to several Delta bathroom collection styles. The RP46074 cartridge is used with Delta 13 and 14 series valve trims, that have a valve body that was installed after 2006. Best Regards, Benjamin

What is the maximun flow rate for the shower using a RP46074 cartridge at 60psi city water pressure.

Asked by: jmcmil45
Hi, jmcmil45! Thank you for your question. The flow rate for the shower head will be determined by the shower head itself, not the valve body. We have shower heads that range from 1.5-2.5 gpm flow rate. Here is a link to our shower head and hand showers available: https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/showering/showerheads--handshowers Best Regards, Rosanna
